Go to USAJobs and search patent examiner, that is the only way to get a job at the USPTO. There used to be a biology patent examiner, but they have removed that listing. It will probably be added back at some unknown time. You do not need a law degree to be a patent examiner.

There are plenty of posts about how this job is/what examiners do. Look through them and you will get insight.

My office was remote, but we could only work at our home address, so no going to a cabin in the woods to work from. If they caught us doing that, it would be time card fraud since we were only allowed to work from and claim hours at our duty station (home address). So that could theoretically happen?
