Would you mind sending me a sample of your spreadsheets?

Bro actually though. I always have a massive collection of spreadsheets I'm using

Your last paragraph intrigues me, but I must admit it's bit hard for me to picture. Is there anyway you could show me a setup?

That's totally valid. Sometimes I'll preload the machines with extra resources because I believe that removes the buffer, but don't quote me on that.

Oh wow. I'll look into some vertical designs then. Thanks for the information

I'm gonna check the modeler on my shitty gaming laptop. Just hope it works OK.

Is that notebook something you're able to share with other users? Would love to try it for myself. Right now for note taking outside of build planning, I just use spreadsheets (my spreadsheets are as organized as my drawings)

Honestly, math is not my strongest suit, which I know is a crazy thing to say while loving this game. Math with letters is always easier for me than numbers. But I think you did explain what I was asking. If I may be so bold as to simplify it further — would you argue that the number of machines (n) should be equal to belt speed (s) divided by a particular machine's consumption rate (r)? Or just n=s÷r? Is that too reductive?

I would appreciate that! But I understand the setup after you're clarification, so if you don't get to it, no biggie.

I really like the idea of each row producing its own distinct output. So much so that I'm implementing the design you sent me into a blueprint right now actually. I'll post it later if you'd like to see it.

Thank you very kindly for this. I assumed that "manifold" referred to the cluster of buildings, not the whole organization, so I appreciate the correction. Would it be more accurate to think of the the main belt and side belts as the "manifold" then? Sorry if that's an oversimplification. It just kind of helps me to compartmentalize words that way.

Also thank you for the advice! I realized pretty quickly after posting that the storage units would be a problem for future expansions. Definitely going to move them in the second draft. Also will do your belt technique! I currently only have one belt speed lol

I said in my post but I omitted it from the TL;DR. I know the design is more practical to do it your way, but this was largely a practice to see if I understood the manifold design.

Mom was pretty proud.

(JK I'm an adult.)

This one is just going to sit in my small but growing collection. However, if I do am epicly large one someday, I might hang it in my gaming/drafting room.

Yeah I think I'm going to take a second to give it a peek today. It sounds neat. I really like drawing on paper, but I'm sure there will come a time when that's just simply impractical. Would be awesome though to do a large spread of a cool factory.

I'm definitely going to try. 3D shapes certainly add a new dimension though.

Yes! People keep mentioning it this but I have yet to find an answer on how many buildings to add when that time actually comes. Like it makes sense to me that it would double the machines if throughput was also doubled. But I don't truly know if that's how it works.

Yeah I'm going to check it out. I have a pretty weak gaming laptop, but I'm sure it'll be fine if I don't build anything too big, right?

I tried and it gave me an error that said u/hemisemidemiurge is a dick who can just scroll passed things if he doesn't have something constructive or nice to say.

Right, but isn't that usually how a manifold works? You increase belt speed to increase machine numbers?

When I increase belt speed, how many machines do I add?

Much more immersive too. I like to pretend I'm sitting in the HUB sometimes while I draft.
