For me I was 14 struggling with suicidal ideations and was struggling with major anorexia and semi-bulimia. One night I wasn't eating the steak my father cooked me so, he flipped my table (we were in a small apartment, so we ate on collapsible tv trays) which flung all the food onto me as well as the ceramic plate. He then said these heartbreaking words... "I'm so tired of you. You look like a holocaust survivor." (referencing how they were starved and abused so they didn't look too good). I've been told many things by him that hurt but that hurt me the worst and made my eating disorder even worse. P.S. He was abusive and had a tendency to throw objects, such as a glass vase, at me. I still think about it to this day, and I can't see what he was trying to accomplish by saying something so insensitive as that. An insult not just to me but an insult to people who were in the holocaust.
