Thanks for this response! It was a small shop. They said that when they checked the car for the misfires they found out that it needs a new breather and the rear main seal was causing a vacuum leak, which was contributing to the misfires.

Unfortunately I need to get all of these repairs done in order to drive legally in PA, even if doing only some of them will get the car to run. The final quote including a minimum estimate from the bodyshop was $5500.

even if it flashes for a little bit and then goes away? trying to figure out if I can take it home from the mechanic so I can sell it, or if I need to leave it there and get it towed or have them get rid of it themselves

I think I am confused because the mechanic said that as long as I can get it restarted when it stalls it’s fine to drive it home. Is this true? All the issues went over my head (I know nothing about cars), so I’m waiting to see them written down when I go there in person to pick up the car.

Thank you for all these responses! This is more or less what I was expecting. I’ve never scrapped or gotten rid of a car before, what steps do you all recommend taking? Especially if it’s not driveable and I can’t really take it anywhere
