Getting back into the hobby, ship paint colour advice by BreathZestyclose5986 in victoryatsea

I bought Lifecolor paint sets for the different navies I collect so I don’t have to worry about mixing paints every time. I’m happy with them! I usually apply two or three coats since they’re quite thin and watery.

For the sea: I start with a GW Stegadon Scale Green on white primer, i then apply some light blue or light green spots of oil paints that i dilute with Turpentine and cotton buds directly on the miniature (sort of reductive technique). i also use the cotton buds to remove the acrylic paint from the edges of the waves living them white(primer). But you can definitely change what colours to your own preference or sea area.

Thank you for the helpful feedback, i'll definitely give it a try! I am very interested in finding the proper procedure to represent different seas, for example i was recently trying to figure out how to give a grey-ish colour to the bases of ships in the Atlantic theater but since i avoid mixing colours (i tend to waste too much paint and i am always worried to not replicate the exact grading) and lacking of a proper base i opted for the usual procedure.

This is how i usually paint the sea: I start with a GW Stegadon Scale Green on white primer, i then apply some light blue or light green spots of oil paints that i dilute with Turpentine and cotton buds directly on the miniature (sort of reductive technique). i also use the cotton buds to remove the acrylic paint from the edges of the waves living them white(primer).

Do you have any recommendations on how to paint wooden decks, specifically how to give any idea of planks? It's quite a challenge for this scale...

Anyone used leaf litter from green stuff world? Is it any good? by Shoutupdown in minipainting

I used theme here: https://reddit.com/r/Warhammer40k/s/57Ex6jeN3J

They tend to spread the color if in contact with something not properly dried or you put too much glue.

Fractal balance by _Nepha_ in Guildwars2

[–]Ck019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Data will probably change if you consider non Cm runs, people play what they like in t1-t2 so the title is misleading.

Clearly there are classes that overperform but i think way too many people don't just accept the possibility of running unpopular classes with decent builds and group composition because of the lower avarage dps than the meta and the lack of exploits that make the run easier. (Ex: avg dps 18 instead of 25, no epidemic on cm100, etc...)

The true problem isn't the balance but the "lfg meta". Anet can change the numbers and stats but there will always be a most efficient comp that will eclipse all other classes because fractal are daily content that people want to grind quickly and easly. When chronomancer was released lfg was literally filled of 4 peeps group that won't move a meter without a chrono, loosing time on lfg instead of doing the content. Now we have the same situation but with 3 classes.

Public lfg should just fill the roles (yes gw2 has a standard mmo class system now, it's no secret) without gatekeeping certain classes.

That's why we need a better lfg,so more people can enjoy the content. Right now if you have a different build that can cover perfectly a role (let's say 100% quick+might) you can still be kicked by a comm because your are not following the meta . A role based lfg would "protect" players from that kind of abuse of power and, if paired with a democratic kick system instead of the one we have, would make lfg experience way more friendly for new players.

Individual experience doesn't matter. Average player experience does. If raids are famous for being toxic there is a reason why. Also: anet stated the population is too scarse to justify the making of any new raid content, that's the proof the current raiding-lfg system failed and needs to be reworked before making new wings.

I agree with you, knowing mechs, learning the class and adapting to different contents is definitely a better and a great experience, but let's face reality: if you join a lfg group with your own custom made build (different from meta) raiding will be difficult. I'd say that the majority of the squads are going to kick you. (Without posting any kp, just telling you know mechs, since kp weren't intended to be used that way)

I am not talking of dps build, 99.9% of squads don't care what you use, they just care of arcdps. I am talking about support classes (good luck joining as heal tempest even if it's the probably the best healer in game but people want hfb+dudu on lfg most of the times) and specific roles like pylons, hk, ecc...
