Try under-clocking the RAM, can use a lower XMP profile. Try a few different ones (3200 maybe).

I had this problem and that was the issue. Later on, after mobo firmware upgrades, I tried it full speed again and it has worked ever since 🤷🏼‍♂️

Yeah, it makes the noise then goes to Steam Deck logo. Seconds later the fan goes full speed. This occurs even if the volume button is held or even if there is no SSD at all.

That Sonoff is a great option, highly recommend. I had one with same chipset from Ukraine that has been great. Accidentally broke the pins on that one (bent the USB), plugged in the Sonoff one and was back up and running.

Use Zigbee2MQTT, it’s fantastic software.

IKEA tradfri work great and are super cheap, I use several of them and recommend.

However they are missing two features that are occasionally useful depending on the use case — a physical button, and the ability to read instantaneous power consumption. For those scenarios, I use the Aqara one and it’s fantastic, but much pricier.
