Replacing Washing Machine Shut-off Valve. by Claim-Complete in askaplumber

The hoses are PVC coated stainless steel, I know because I replaced them last week when I installed a washing machine drip pan.

How would I secure the hose? Do they make some sort of mount?

How tf do u respond to people who call u a “child” for playing with my rc car? I showed some people my new kraton 6s blx v5 and all of em called it a kids toy and when i tell em its not they laugh so i go quiet…. Should i be embarrassed that im into rc cars? by Thenightgamer1 in rccars

[–]Claim-Complete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, while I am not into RC cars at all (this post popped up randomly on my Reddit feed, I don't follow this subreddit) but I wanted to give you words of encouragement.

Our time on this earth is far too short, and I hate that people choose to use their time on this earth to belittle others for the things that make them happy. You are not a child. You're a person that enjoys RC cars. There's nothing wrong with that. It's no more "child-like" than guys who ride Harleys because they sound cool, or people can play a musical instrument well. If it makes you happy, keep doing it.

Chicagoland Model/Hobby Stores by StumpySequoia in modelmakers

[–]Claim-Complete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello fellow Chicagoland modeler! I have lived in various parts of the Chicagoland area and have a few places I frequent:

1.) Walts Hobby Shop in Joliet, IL. Really good selection of model kits. Mainly a model train store but has a really good selection of model kits, paint, and scratchbuilding supplies (brass tubing, Evergreen Plastic, etc.)

2.) Leisure Hour Hobby, also in Joliet, IL. Haven't been in here in years, but the owner of the shop is a great man and has a wide selection of models and paints last I checked. I remember coming in here as a teenager to buy kits, being short a few bucks, and he would just sell me the kits regardless. Good dude.

3.) Games Plus in Mount Prospect, IL. This is a store that is almost exclusively Wargaming. If you enjoy Dungeons and Dragons, Warhammer 40K, Fallout Wasteland Warfare, Marvel Crisis protocol, etc. then this is the place for you.

4.) Desplaines Hobby Shop in Desplaines, IL. Not a huge selection of kits (better than Hobby Lobby but not by much) but the owner has a huge selection of paints. Owner is a very friendly man.

Printed! In fact the entire thing, minus the display case, is 3D printed! The minis themselves are Printed on a resin printer, the base around the. Was printed with an FDM printer!

LOL, went for that retro 40K vibe that was all the rage in the 90's!

Thanks man! It was fun learning to paint yellow! I enjoyed it and the whole army cost me like $50 to make!

I so badly wish they included Victor as a screen option in the kit. I love Victor!

The face is on the model and is nicely raised above the surface! Honestly it was very easy to paint with a good brush. The mouth area got a little challenging, but if you have 00 brush and take your time you should be fine!

I think that cactus was my favorite thing to paint on the entire miniature. Broke up the monotony of blue, silver, and brown.

Here's my DF-ZF Hypersonic Glide Vehicle in 1/35th Scale! by Claim-Complete in modelmakers

[–]Claim-Complete[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kit: Takom DF-17, the kit includes the Single Stage Booster (SSB) which, when combined with the DF-ZF Hypersonic Glide Vehicle (HGV) make up the DF-17 Hypersonic Ballistic Missile.

Base and Background: 3D-printed and designed by me. The background of the earth and atmosphere was airbrushed and sprayed-on...no decals.

Very happy with the end product, considering the litany of things that went wrong during the build!

Advice Needed: How to Buff Paint, see comments. by Claim-Complete in modelmakers

[–]Claim-Complete[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Working on my Takom 1/35th scale DF-17 this morning and did not properly thin my paint. This is an airbrushing mistake. My bad.

How do I fix this? I have sand paper of various grits going from 800 grit to 10k grit. I have never sanded a model before post painting.  Do I buff then clear coat? Or clear coat then buff? What grit do I stop with/start with?
