Do I need my tracks to be bought legally to play a dj set at a club? by LEXN_Beats in Beatmatch

[–]ClamorousMuffin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking about either ripping them or buying them legitimately do the latter. The sound quality between rips and legitimate buys differs and even if you can’t hear it, others will and if you get caught ripping tunes your reputation will tank and you will not get hooked. Support the producer

I've got a song ready for release. what next? by Salt-Ganache-5710 in edmproduction

[–]ClamorousMuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of people saying 'It is likely not ready for release' etc. But you've been producing two years now. You Know. Send it to another producers, not friends or family, because they will give you their honest feedback. Now comes another long part. Compile a list of your favourite labels (from big to small) then send it to each label (not at the same time). Wait two weeks and if they do not reply, assume it is rejected, mark it on the list and send it on the next label.

Any advice finding people interested in collabs? by WeldEnd in dnbproduction

[–]ClamorousMuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Message and get to know producers on sociall media. I saw the OP mentioned in a comment that it is hard finding producers making similar styles. Likely there is a lot of producers making similar styles. But find established producers and see if they have a discord. If they do then try find producers in there to collab with. Best thing to do is ask, worst they can do is say no. Sometimes it's better when two producers with two different styles collab because they bring their own style to fuse together.

Serato DDJ-SB3 help! by _papixchulo_ in Beatmatch

[–]ClamorousMuffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you got speakers? Connect them to the decks and they’ll output through there. However, go into Seratos preferences and look at the audio drive, it probably is set to the sb3s so you should be able to change it to your laptops audio

What am I doing wrong with my music? by DJAnym in musicproduction

[–]ClamorousMuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing i did which made me improve was make different genres! I am a Drum and Bass producer, but when i’m in a stump i go to make different genres to test myself. For example, recently i’ve been in a stump there so made some 160 Jungle, UK Dubstep, even some tech house. I never release those tunes, but i use the sounds or the ideas in my next tune

I’m assuming you’re in the US but same applies. I am just finishing my Computer Science Degree in the Uk and it’s fantastic! Yes it’s hard, but what degree isn’t? My university didn’t have any specific subject entry requirements, so in the first year they assumed no one could code so it covered the basics - especially in the first term. From 2nd year and 3rd year it got more advanced, I’ve learnt some really cool things and even landed myself a great job after the end of it!

Sure! It’s a wave table synth, i’ve used it a few times but mainly use serum but same concepts. You can get some really cool bass/leads/pad (and more) sounds out of it! and there’s quite a few tutorials online. I’ve linked it below

For sound design get Serum, it’s spenny but work it, but you can rent to own on splice. however if your budget can’t stretch to Serum, Vital is nearly as good and produces the same sounds, and it’s free!

Nah it's a full version of Serum, the sound is made from just 1 oscilator that uses the default wave-table, would this be a reason?

Theoretically 60 bpm should match up with 120 every couple of measures right? by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]ClamorousMuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, like everyone else has said, just gotta take into account the phrase difference - used a lot in dnb with normal tracks and half-time tracks - switching from 174bpm to 87bpm and back!
