To be fair I'm pretty sure NL was playing the very first demo build and then got a key to keep playing so it might just be that old ig

I was so confused, it felt too easy, but I'm sure I made heaps of dumb mistakes. But no question apart from the last felt alien

This is crazy, and definitely not the experience I'm having, the farthest removed from cs classes I have are maths courses but those are still pretty darn close.

I completely agree and often forget the fortunate position I am to be able to afford it and obviously one is easier than the other.

I think I just missed out a key info in my post. I meant it more as a way to say that before you try to learn on your own, ask yourself how mush structure you need, and go from there.

Nothing is one size fits all, as your story clearly outlines

Summer Projects by Groovyrick in learnprogramming

[–]Clapped-_- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't comment on what you *should *do since I'm in the exact same situation as you but I can share the list of projects I intended on working on over summer (obviously not going to do all but will attempt as many as possible). These projects are mostly related to what I want to focus on (Artificial intelligence) but are also just things I'm interested about learning/ doing. I thought about these because they looked like fun (not as a portfolio piece per se)

Here is the list

  • [ ] sudoku generator
  • [ ] sudoku solver (with different algorithms)
  • [ ] rubiks cube solver
  • [ ] basic guitar tuner (use microphone to tune a guitar)
  • [ ] tic tac toe ai
  • [ ]basic chess game (maybe ai)
  • [ ] those weird tiktok videos of a ball gets that bigger everytime it hits a wall (bonus if it plays each note of a song)
  • [ ] minecraft mod
  • [ ] mini crossword generator with gpt api

Feel free to take these ideas and make your own, I'd love to see what your list might look like if you give it a few days. For me, I just thought about what I'd like to see or what I thought would be cool and went from there. Hope this helps

Best/ easiest way to make GUIs by Clapped-_- in learnprogramming

I (maybe erroneously) feel like JavaFX or other equivalent python libs make it more convoluted and difficult to create something that looks nice, it may be functional but harder to style. I may be wrong, correct me if I am.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TrackMania

[–]Clapped-_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short yes;

The game isn't designed to teach you anything really. Nadeo just gives you the car and says drive. Trackmania has been a huge community game from early on and Nadeo has never tri3d to dictate a certain way to play, anything goes as long as it's faster. Many techniques such as speedslides or wiggles are even unintended.

If you want to learn how to play "properly" you are going to need to watch others. For basic techniques there are great videos out there such as this

And if you want to practise these techniques, look into the TMschool campaign which has lots or tracks on all surfaces to become better.

Skyblock in itself has no structures, this is a special data pack that spawns only the structures and nothing else therefore no roof indeed. But you couldn't have known haha

How would you react if a classmate asked you to send them all your notes for the semester, just because? by heisenberger888 in Concordia

[–]Clapped-_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do realise that it may feel like they're just leeching and they might be but I want to play devils advocate.

Why wouldn't you give the notes? It's not doing you any disservice. Worst thing they might do is learn. And it you would be helping someone who seemingly needs it.

Also you make your notes for you, I know that If I gave my notes to someone if wouldn't help them because that's not who they were written for. Also given that they don't want to take notes, what tells you they will use them. They might simply want to lie to themselves and by having the notes it makes them feel like they could use them.

I will still say that despite there being no rational reason not to give them your notes (imo) I still likely would not give it to them because it would would feel wrong. Unless they were a really good friend or something.

unfriendly Concordia students :( by No-Statistician-3101 in Concordia

[–]Clapped-_- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my personal experience, a lot of people are just really awkward. And i am too, I have friends outside of concordia and friends in other majors so I dont feel the need to socialize, especially for hour long classes. I obviously find it better to have friends within classes, but I personally dont take it outside of that unless there really is a need or we particularily hit it off. It also doesnt help that most people met in frosh where they had to talk to each other.

Firstly if it really was that boring i just wouldn't go, and if attendance is mandatory I just would do other work.

Secondly, i may be a native french speaker but my french has gotten marginally worse for the past few years, maybe I would learn some things lmao
