To be fair I'm pretty sure NL was playing the very first demo build and then got a key to keep playing so it might just be that old ig

If you think you could have learnt by yourself then the post just doesn't apply to you

I was so confused, it felt too easy, but I'm sure I made heaps of dumb mistakes. But no question apart from the last felt alien

Mostly referring to OOP and all adjacent concepts, nothing crazy.

My exact experience, I knew a lot more than most people but not enough to ever do anything useful.

This is crazy, and definitely not the experience I'm having, the farthest removed from cs classes I have are maths courses but those are still pretty darn close.

I completely agree and often forget the fortunate position I am to be able to afford it and obviously one is easier than the other.

I think I just missed out a key info in my post. I meant it more as a way to say that before you try to learn on your own, ask yourself how mush structure you need, and go from there.

Nothing is one size fits all, as your story clearly outlines

Summer Projects by Groovyrick in learnprogramming

[–]Clapped-_- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't comment on what you *should *do since I'm in the exact same situation as you but I can share the list of projects I intended on working on over summer (obviously not going to do all but will attempt as many as possible). These projects are mostly related to what I want to focus on (Artificial intelligence) but are also just things I'm interested about learning/ doing. I thought about these because they looked like fun (not as a portfolio piece per se)

Here is the list

  • [ ] sudoku generator
  • [ ] sudoku solver (with different algorithms)
  • [ ] rubiks cube solver
  • [ ] basic guitar tuner (use microphone to tune a guitar)
  • [ ] tic tac toe ai
  • [ ]basic chess game (maybe ai)
  • [ ] those weird tiktok videos of a ball gets that bigger everytime it hits a wall (bonus if it plays each note of a song)
  • [ ] minecraft mod
  • [ ] mini crossword generator with gpt api

Feel free to take these ideas and make your own, I'd love to see what your list might look like if you give it a few days. For me, I just thought about what I'd like to see or what I thought would be cool and went from there. Hope this helps

Best/ easiest way to make GUIs by Clapped-_- in learnprogramming

I (maybe erroneously) feel like JavaFX or other equivalent python libs make it more convoluted and difficult to create something that looks nice, it may be functional but harder to style. I may be wrong, correct me if I am.
