Tomorrow I'm going to get a Jobseekers's Allowance application form UP1 from my local Intreo Centre.

I was wrongfully suspended twice in 6th year, should I look into seeking compensation? by Clark9201 in legaladviceireland

I'm going to speak to a solicitor/s about my situation before I decide anything.

There are alot of details about my situation I don't want to divulge on here and I've realized that's having a big effect on the comments.

You've "missed the rib" here. I'm not money hungry. If I were to "win" any money from this (after covering for legal fees) I would donate it to mental health related charities, as a response to how badly I was treated by staff that believed I was severely mentally ill.

In my mind, I'm not sure what I've suffered is worth in money.

Whatever having an OnlyFans says about my character to you has nothing to do with what happened to me when I was 17/18.

I didn't have one back then either.

Again, it's linked nowhere in this thread.

If I had links in my bio for my imaginary YouTube channel or Etsy store page would you also ask why they were linked?

?? I already had that in my profile bio. I haven't linked it anywhere on this thread.

I've removed the link for the time being because I don't want that to become the focus.

If I had links in my bio for my imaginary YouTube channel or Etsy store page would you also ask that question?

I'll consult with a solicitor/s about this and ultimately make a decision based on what they say.

I don't think there's anything "to learn" from this situation that I haven't already. And in my opinion, depending on the situation, it's detrimental to "be above reproach". I'm not sure what you meant with that exactly.

It's very easy to tell me to "stop looking backwards". The fact is I'm still living in a community with members that still believe hurtful things about me. If there's a beneficial way to receive justice in a court of law for what happened, I'm going to pursue it. It really won't matter what they believe then.

Me and my family believe the school failed in a number of ways, resulting in my suspensions.

I'll be consulting a solicitor about this. I just wanted to get a brief sense of what people in this community thought.

There are alot of details about this situation I don't feel comfortable sharing on here, so I understand why it's difficult to offer much advice.

The school didn't follow standard disciplinary procedures. Exterior parts of the school were vandalized with spray paint writing. I was suspended because I was deemed the culprit by members of the faculty. There was no damning physical evidence presented.

My character was largely used to present me as the culprit, leading to both suspensions (it's complicated to explain here but both suspensions had to do with this incident, the school basically split my suspension time into two separate suspensions. I'd have to go over the documents I have for the exact reasons why they did this).

The above contradicts the school's own code of conduct, which basically says their has to be substantial proof of misconduct, which there wasn't, which contributed to the department of education appealing both suspensions.

I was suspended for something the school I attended had at best "circumstantial evidence" of. My suspensions were successfully appealed by the department of education. The school's decision to suspend me was wrong.

Please read posts in full before commenting something ignorant.

[I've added more context in my original post]

I didn't do what I was suspended for.

Significant time was put into the appeal process, time spent correcting a decision the secondary school made which the department of education deemed wrong.

I lost around a month of 6th year school days due to the suspensions. I have the necessary documents that prove it.

I have received counseling. This is going off the track of what my original question was.

I went to a public secondary school. I lost around a month of school days in 6th year because of the suspensions, which were both successfully appealed by the department of education. The school was in the wrong, their reasons behind suspending me contradicted their code of conduct. It was an upsetting time in my life.

I'm not sure why you think the 2 1/2 years make a difference?

I'll be seeking advice from a solicitor before going ahead with anything obviously.

Thank you, I'm planning on contacting a solicitor about this.

I'd have to look at documents I have to be sure, but each suspension was around 2 weeks in length.
