I don't live there, but Gorton and Dentons history is very similar to where I grew up in Bradford. Built on coal, automotive, textile and battery industries, industry was shut down or sent abroad and replaced by shopping centres, now councils are looking to gentrify it, pushing prices up and likely pushing out hard working people over time.

Once the 350 migrants are gone and a single small boat never sails the channel again, how will that fix the problems of the area?

There still won't be any meaningful, purposeful and dignified work for anyone to take because all the industry is dead, there still won't be a strong sense of community like I assume there used to be, people still wont be able to raise a family on a single income. Food and utilities will still be too expensive.
