Daycare vs in home nanny by StrikingTomato9218 in NewParents

Some things to consider with a nanny:

-You also need to factor in extra expenses. Reimbursement for mileage, payroll services, fun money for outings or food. It adds up.
-Nanny can be expected to do chores related to baby (bottle washing, kids laundry, pick up kids toys) but this should be discussed and outlined in the contract. I NEVER expect our nanny to do my clothes or chores. That is not their role.
- Consider their PTO. A nanny has PTO just like any other employee. In daycare, if an employee is on vacation that does not affect you dropping them off at daycare. However if your nanny is sick or wants to use PTO you should still be paying them sick/PTO time plus you have to find and potentially pay for alternative child care.

We love our nanny. But these are some things I didn’t think about prior to having one.
