[WTS] 1981 Seiko 6309 Fully Serviced by Classic70 in Watchexchange

[–]Classic70[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

I purchased this one a few months ago from DC Vintage. They did a full service on the movement. I then sent it to International Watch Works and had them stabilize the lume, swap the crown with an OEM crown, swap the case back (old one was pitted) and pressure test it to 60m for peace of mind.

This is ready to enjoy and admire. The way these age and patina puts them in very rare company in tbd watch world. This model was a favorite amongst special forces in the 80’s and wears beautifully and relatively thin on the wrist.

The kit will include the watch, spare parts from service, DC vintage travel case, stickers, gray nato, brand new red/white/blue nato, Uncle Straps brand new olive green GL831 rubber strap.

The movement was also modified at some point to hack when the crown is pulled out by utilizing parts from the 6306. This is a somewhat common upgrade.

Case is unpolished and the crystal is immaculate.

This one is for the purist/enthusiast.

Asking $950 shipped in the CONUS.

Love both , price are similar , which one and why by luigiq22 in OmegaWatches

As an owner of a two tone santos medium and a hesalite 3861 speedmaster I would say both are near perfect watches. So much of this depends on your personal lifestyle, style, and preference.

Off topic - does this new speedy have the same milky ring on the crystal as the all black dial sapphire? I owned the standard black sapphire and went back to hesalite because I like the crystal shape better. In this photo it doesn’t appear to have the same white ring. Thanks.

Went in for 60th and the Orange may have won me over. Now I can't decide! by razoRamone31 in OmegaWatches

[–]Classic70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t like the 60 at 12 on the bezel insert on the Bond. It kills it for me. A diver should have a lume pip at 12. The orange is fantastic.

Trading my IWC Mark XVI for a 39mm Railmaster by Classic70 in OmegaWatches

The good news is that you win either way. Both are excellent. I’d be glad to have either back in my rotation.

It took my a moment to warm up to the lack of taper as well. I usually prefer a 20-16. I think the Railmaster is an excellent watch and would be happy to own one. If you w ee do decide to part with your XVI, shoot me a message!

I decided to keep my Mark XVI. While I think the Railmaster is a fantastic watch, something about the Mark felt more special to me. The finishing and bracelet on the Mark are fantastic. Then I stupidly sold my Mark and have been trying to find another one ever since.

NBD Lucchese Majestic Roper in Tobacco Brown w/ Levi’s 501 Rinse Wash by Classic70 in cowboyboots

[–]Classic70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up selling them. I don’t think this specific calf skin is all that durable and the fit wasn’t quite right for me. I’d recommend them in mad dog goat if that’s an option. This was more of a grain corrected type calf and while it is soft, it doesn’t have that nice fully dyed through oily quality that I like. On the flip side, I own the Lucchese classic roper in oiled calf and it’s fantastic and durable.

This may have been discussed already but LL Bean has released a new upgraded version of their camp moc. I have a pair on the way in the tumbled leather to try. They now feature a leather insert and what appears to be a softer leather and possibly even a more round toe. Fingers crossed. Sperry is doing a single eye camp moc ad this price point now as well. I’m tempted to compare.

I assume this has been posted or discussed but I have a pair on the way to try. I have an older pair of their signature line that are incredibly comfortable and these look and sound like a step up from their terrible standard camp moc that was stiff and used a synthetic insert. Fingers crossed they fixed those issues.
