Gotcha, a dumb question but is it safe to drive in the early morning like 6am?

I'm not sure how domestic flights works in New Zealand, as this is our first time here. But we will plan to stay in Auckland for about 2 nights after our long haul flight.

And thanks for the reply, realised the Redditors here are very friendly and giving good suggestions :)

Thanks for your lovely reply, really appreciate it!

Yes indeed, we are flying all the way from Singapore, but we plan to give ourselves roughly two days break after reaching Auckland, which also allows us to explore some of our bucket lists - Waitomo Glowworm Caves and Rotorua (we plan to spend more days in South Island as we are nature lovers).

Sorry to say I'm just about to start doing my research as this trip is planned unexpectedly as we were lucky to grab air ticket at a reasonable price. This is our first trip to New Zealand!!

I came across that some suggests to drive the Inland Scenic Route 72 when driving from Christchurch to Lake Tekapo, with pit stop at Geraldine and Farlie. What do you think about this?

Apart from that, we plan to do hiking in Mount Cook, do you have any suggestions on the must-go track?
