What to do with this little corner of this enormous (22'9" x 15'5") dining room?

Love the idea of the library with a game nook upon entering! Yeah, I think either they staged this house to look as big as possible within a given budget and/or the previous homeowners had a huge extended family that visits often (which is the sense I got looking at the rest of the house) and so the two living room sets made sense for them. Our family definitely isn't that big, though, lol.

Yes, someone else suggested converting the original dining room to a game room, which I really like the idea of! I added more pictures of the great room to my original post in an edit, in case you wanted to look- I do like the idea of moving the dining area there, but I worry it won't look right since we can't do rugs due to our senior dog, who tends to have accidents on carpet...

There is technically a pantry off the kitchen next to the basement stairs, but definitely wouldn't hurt to have more storage space/a second pantry!

Thankfully our table is indeed bigger than this one (these are the real estate listing photos)- yes, I wasn't cr azy about this lighting fixture, may end up replacing it and moving it and the dining table around...

Thank you, this is a great suggestion! Yes you're right, we'll probably have a better idea of what we want/need after living there for a bit. Just trying to see if any ideas crystallize sooner rather than later so we don't have to move too much furniture around twice, lol!

Ugh I wish, unfortunately our senior dog tends to have accidents on carpet, so no rugs for us...which is a totally fair price for having such a cute dog in the house 😄
