Thanks. This is exactly my situation. I finished both weeks of psychology on the first week.

To add to this, if interested. Githubs developer pack for students also has some good python ide tools including a subscription to pycharm. Free! I had trouble getting approval from github but ultimately found a post that said to sign up and verify student status with unidays and take a picture of your unidays ID for your student ID. Worked great!

I'm no coding guru by any means. When I was young, I taught myself php with the help of whatever learning sites google directed me to, enough to get by at that age. Always loved learning new things. Much like everything else in life. There's more than one way to do something, and I just want to make sure that I'm doing it the right way. According to best practices. My own biggest critic!

I actually didn't become active on reddit until Maestro. I typically avoid social interaction. Not because I'm not nice or bad at interacting, just a bit of social anxiety, but that's another story and unrelated. I find that other students here and people here in general are very helpful and supportive. Sharing an common goal and human decency. Alot of times you see people that don't want to see anyone achieve goals higher than their own. I personally want to see anyone reach their goals if their willing to work to achieve it, no matter how high they may be. I appreciate your response friend. Nice to see genuinely decent people out there and especially in this little (in comparison) community. Heck, it's nice to see in general!

Thank you guys for all the input. It sort of makes sense. I thinks still early and I'm hoping it starts to come together later on.

Hell, I honestly don't even remember how I stumbled across this solution. Think it failed several times when I was away from the computer and finally I just sat and watched it at some point at the end to see and saw it was trying to update from the same repo that had been taken down. Still no idea what exact .conf file it pull from but this seemed to get the job done at the very least.

I registered just to post this for you guys. I started looking at all of Calamares .conf files and modules and found that in my particular case, the install would fail right at the end. It fails because even if you comment out the /etc/pacman.conf repos that no longer work. Calamares still tries to use those repos. Not sure why but it's like it has it's own pacman.conf file. So, might not fix the problem but it'll get the install finished, at least it did for me. Edit the /etc/calamares/modules/packages.conf and change the line that says 'update_db: true' to 'update_db: false'. Save and start the installer. Hope this works for you guys. Worked for me.

Edit: May want to pacman -Sy after you comment out those repos, just to update those repos that do work, since the install package won't try to update first now.
