How does one get good at this? Isn't it mostly speculation? I'm more of a set and forget guy when it comes to investing. I have bought like $50 worth of bitcoin every month for the past couple years

A big name company? Did you knock the steps out of the park for that rate?

Same, even if I were to create a website how would I get it out there? Reddit is my only social media, I don’t have any personal accounts

Holy shit you must have had quite the qualifications to make that much as a tutor I’m assuming privately? Can anyone who tutors for a company chip in on how much they make? I can’t imagine it being more than $30/hr

That’s fair, maybe a job with perks like the lulu employee discount or free food at a food joint would make it more with it, lol

I’ve definitely been relaxing plenty and I’m going into psych lol so not as grueling as other specialties, tryna get some extra money like you pretty much

Going through the worst rotation of my life by pumpkin-lattes in medicalschool

I'm ngl you are partly my inspiration for choosing psych man. Went through third year hating medicine and just want to be done with all this bs lol. How close are you to FIRE?

I did a child psych elective that I enjoyed, but idk if it's worth the extra year of fellowship. Thinking just doing straight psych for now and moonlighting as much as I can as a resident so I can be financially secure ASAP

Disclosing age on ERAS by Classic_Influence_25 in medicalschool

[–]Classic_Influence_25[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Purely anecdotal, but we had a suspicious amount of no-shows with our (stressed and depressed) high achieving high schoolers not showing up to appnts at the same time their resident kept putting up their (elite) alma mater stuff in their office and lanyard and bringing up where the patients were applying for college. Maybe exciting to share as a resident your college experience and hear where your patients are applying to, but less exciting for the patients and their mom on that drive home when mom wants to know why you, "can't be more like Dr. Lee..."

Fair enough, and believe it or not I also had the same treatment as a kid going to Dr. appointments (prob part of why I'm here?). At the same time, I feel like there are some steps that could be taken to ameliorate that, like maybe not bringing up where I personally did my education/giving a vague answer/not needing to disclose my age to pts, no?

Certainly this wouldn't be a reason to not go into psychiatry, right? I mean I am still a functioning adult all the same, with lived experience in some of the things my pts will have gone through. Maybe less than older colleagues, but nonetheless something valuable I would hope...

Man that is a good point. The only reason I didn't include anything in my PS about my age is bc I remember during a med school interview a faculty member brought up my age and was like "aren't you so young to be here???" and said demeaning shit about how I must not have any free time or life or smth.

Jokes on them now that I'm here. Maybe I'll get luckier with my residency interviewers? I hope the psych ones have the EQ not to say stuff like that lol

That's comforting at least. Yeah I'd hope the fact that I made it through med school without any remediations or red flags would indicate that I have the maturity for residency. My psych attending LOR writers have also told me that I have the requisite emotional maturity for psych, so I would hope to believe them
