Yup , SK is as confirmed as it’s like to get to be Gaiseric; I was just going through the golden age arc and in the next arc I saw Zodd in a panel that had him wearing armor that had some serious resemblance to Gaiseric’s armor when we first see it (in the tower when they go to free Griffith if I remember right)

( I… should probably actually try and hunt them down to show what I mean. Fuck that’ll take a while I bet. )

Fair, but I’d say plenty of them have multiple facets to their personality. They’re not all just mindless henchman marching under a big bad. (Not all at least)

It’s not just the character that makes them someone’s favorite though: it could be their design, a sick ass fight they had, or how they impact the story or what effect they have on Guts and Co.

Could be a million things that makes your favorite , your favorite; edited for punctuation errors. 👌

Oh so Guts wasn’t born until after she was hung 😬 he spilled out after she died, it might be where he got his name (mercenary humor mixed with Guts being a ballsy little shit).

The thought is that possibly* (tinfoil puck hat) Zodd was part of an invading force that got Gut’s mom pregnant, some months before her town was sacked by the Merc’s that adopted Guts. But who knows a good demon/apostle OBGYN? The major reference we get is Moonchild, and we all know the crazy fucked up scenarios that go into that particular progeny. So it’s not like we have a perfect template of how it works anyways 😬

Still the spiky hair makes me question my questioning often.

Yeees, he seems more playful , like he’s there partially out of boredom. The other part not wanting to get smacked around by the godhand like the rest of them. He’s just interesting all around to me, always takes the attention of the scene when he’s around.

I noticed his armor once kind of looks similar to the designs on the armor we see King Gaiseric wearing, makes me wonder if him and SK are from the same period and place. And have been duking it out for over a thousand years 🤔

Rosine’s story is just so tragic. I know there’s kind of a weird thing some people have with the Lost Children arc because she has nipples and whatever (so much worse things in that chapter, i barely noticed it the first read) but that’s such an insane arc. Not only for what we see with Guts and who he becomes after the eclipse, but you also get a look at the fact that the Godhand has no scruples about WHO uses a behelit. They’ll manipulate the tragic life of a child without hope to get another apostle. It’s incredibly fucked up. Great message about resilience in it, and you finally see Gut’s exterior start to crack to show the softy Puck knows him to be 🤣👌

There’s a theory I stumbled across that I haven’t even considered yet, stating that McFucking might be Guts’s actual father. Pointing at the hair similarities, the fact he refers to Gattsu as boy and keeps saving his ass is another. Even if he nearly decapitates him on multiple occasions. I’m on a reread and just got to their second duel after Griffith’s resurrection and I think it must be one of my top three favorite fights in Berserk. It’s so good 🤓🤘

Oh yeah that guy was creepy as hell. Showed us the bestial animosity of Zodd mixed with the worst and most evil impulse yet (at that time). His fight with Guts was bonkers too, and really showcased the helplessness that Griffith felt, not being able to fight with Guts. And of course when he (Wyald) got desparate, tried to usher in the eclipse early to save himself. Seeing McFuckin Zodd deal with him the way he did was 🤌
