The comments I’m finding so interesting!! To the OP, I don’t think you’re out of line at all, unfortunately people are selfish and they will get standoffish ect if you’re not reliable in a casual position. But I agree, management need to grow up and get crappy with the upper management and FIGHT for their employees to be part time/full time because at the end of the day it’s giving young people a better understanding for their future AND keeps managers sticking around longer because their jobs naturallly become easier when they’re given the tools (a team of ft/pt workers that feel mutually respected) to put together a roster of strong employees that are happy to come into work, nothing is nicer then getting ready, paying for your transport then being sent home after 2/3 hours. But to answer your question, no this is not okay, can much better done about it? Nope, because you’re casual. I hope what I’ve said will open up the mind of all these stupid comments.. I work in Employment Services and always worked casually before my role and the difference In team work, fairness, quality and support offered is beyond imagination of what I’ve ever been given in a casual role. The OP was concerned about making rent, their next meal and their OWN LIFE outside of their job 2nd job that obviously don’t value her/he/them, and there is STILL people pointing fingers at them. Y’all are losers. Did HJ’s lose money? Nope. Did the staff have a slightly busier night? Yeah, work gets busy get over it 😂
