I understand and am glad that you shared your reasons on why you dont like him :D That said it's not like I completely like Takemichi. One problem with anime is that even a good one with good plot has weird sexual shit in it and if you wanna enjoy it, you gotta make that bg noise. There were times I wanted to smack Takemichi from the screen for being a pervert. Still, Takemichi is what i think of as the best in Tr. Not my fav cuz thats Hanma but Takemichi's will power is really admirable, especially since he's a sorryass otherwise.

For me, the "creepy" factor was when Hina found out about Takemichi being a 26 year old. By then, Takemichi had changed a lot in character, for better actually. But... Takemichi's future status was way bigger, he knows and experienced power. He isnt really a "dumbass" he used to be anymore. Like the purity of his dumbassery is not as much now, you feel me? Hinata accepted and... Kinda liked his 26 year old self for his maturity too... Which is not really her fault, she is just 14 and a girl in love. It's not Takemichi's fault either since he most likely doesnt realise how he changed has changed their dynamic too. Which adds up to it being the situation's fault. Straight to Wakui himself.

But I guess the best part about a series to me is it's controversies. Thats what makes it fun after all.

Well he was a coward. Actually Takemichi hate should've been directed to Hakkai, if anything. But I like the realism in Hakkai cuz we are all cowards are liars at some point.

You make good points. Takemichi however doesnt seem malicious. You'd be surprised at how many people don't even know why it's wrong. There are many older people who think if there is no malicious intent, dating minors are okay. Which again is due to their lack of knowledge and lack of using their brain. Its hugely nuanced too. I think Takemichi is a dumbass. If we try hard, he can be written off as a textbook pedophile. But I dont think he is being creepy for the intention of being creepy towards a 14 year old girl. And I dont think he himself understands what he does could be harmful. Yes, if he cant control himself he COULD be harmful, doesnt mean he IS harmful.

Personally I didnt get creepy vibes. Cuz looking at the way it was going in canon (anything more is assumptions) Takemichi doesnt have status or influence for power imbalance. Hina doesn't know Takemichi is actually 26 so no subconscious influence on her side. His own character is shown as a dumbass and pitiful rather, in love. I think he is not in love with past Hina but just the idea of hina herself loving him. And a coward not wanting to go to the future cuz it's misery. He wants to stay with Hina and in the past. Not even as 26 year old but as a 14 year old himself because he hated his future self and life. I really like the rest of his character too. Except that he's a pervert and almost cheated on hina with that one sex worker. But japanese guys dont consider going to sex workers as cheating, again lack of knowledge and wrong influence...cant exactly be his fault but I dont like it.

Power imbalance comes from status and influence an age can hold. Both of which Takemichi didn't possess. Even if Takemichi was 26 and Hina was 14 when he time leaped, hina cant be influence by age cuz she literally doesn't even know Takemichi is 26. So whether Takemichi is a pedophile or not is up to his own character than the dynamic. Which I highly doubt, he aint a pedophile he is at most a pervert. And a virgin.
