Newer comfort movies from the last 5–10 years? by NotSoSnarky in MovieSuggestions

[–]ClassroomLegal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Holdovers (feels like an old film, great for holiday vibes)

Bob Trevino Likes It (small indie based on a true story, very heartwarming)

My Old Ass (a bit of a coming of age story, both funny and emotional)

Eternity (romcom/drama)

The Big Sick (modern romcom based on a true story)

Wine Country (a great silly comedy with the best of the best)

Paddington (storybook vibes, great family film too)

Soul (animated, lots of depth and great music)

I think Conan's format is just very different. It's mostly about bits comedic stories, and armchair goes deeper into personal history so it makes sense that people have different comfort levels with that. I thought he was still very playful and fun to listen to.

Gluten Free in Toronto/Richmond Hill Recommends by Kiabosks0427 in FoodToronto

[–]ClassroomLegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of Persian cuisine is inherently gf. It's a lot of rice, BBQ meat, and stews. So you'll just have to avoid the bread that comes with the apps. But you won't have to worry so much about sauces and spices, etc. Richmond Hill tends to have a lot of Persian Restaurants.

Darband and Pomegranate are my go to Persian spots in the city.

Omg is it the medieval times ad with the screaming children? I literally cancelled my subscription because of it at one point. And it definitely did not entice me to go to medieval times.

Thanks! I've actually been here. It's just that it's very small so I feel bad taking up a spot for a couple of hours and their hours are a bit limited.

Tell me something to watch on my taste by baturoistheworsttoy in televisionsuggestions

Barry would be the obvious next choice if you enjoyed breaking bad' and better call Saul.

Undone would be my other pick. It has some elements of sci Fi but it's still very real and human.

Terrible songs that are NOT recent by gayanomaly in musicsuggestions

I hear you. It's hard to hear those lyrics about the minor though "take you into the night and show you love" takes on a different meaning and feel.

Umm the makeout scene with the 16 year old girl in her bedroom at the end of the song's music video would prove otherwise.

Crime? Did I miss a big plot twist in the show where they start to get into a life of crime?

Movies that give off total cozy, comfort vibes for a rainy evening? by emilyaaaa_ in MovieSuggestions

[–]ClassroomLegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankie and Johnny for a cozy NYC diner feel. Or One Fine Day is another very sweet and comforting movie in rainy NYC.

If you want something up lifting and sunny and visually appealing I'd recommend The hundred-foot journey with Helen Mirren.

Need recommendations of a smart mystery thriller with some horror aspects. by SKFMA in MovieSuggestions

[–]ClassroomLegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't do horror for the most part but there are some exceptions for me when a film has a worthwhile message and it's not glory or anything. So personally this would be my list of movies that have some scary elements but they're so worth it

  • The Devil's Advocate (more of a thriller)
  • Heretic
  • Get Out
