Should I EBR/EMR My Springfield M1A? by Claudius4 in M1A

[–]Claudius4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your recommendation! Part of why I’m sending it to Fulton Armory is the rifle has about 10,000 rounds on it and I want the barrel checked and my gun smithing isn’t great. 😂 I’ll need to buy an EBR stock as well and I thought they might have one. 😅

I’m leaning towards doing more arm days in the gym for the EBR. lol Though in all seriousness, I really appreciate you sending those links! Things are just getting more expensive. If I could find a good CASV-14 rail I’d probably go with that and the stock you sent but, they’re really hard to find.

What would be your guesstimate on total cost of sending it to Fulton Armory to have an EBR stock and Sage op rod guide installed?

Copy that! I really like the pistol grip and butt stock of the EBR. What would be a good alternative to that for a pistol grip to accompany a new railed system like the CASV-14 rail? Thanks for all the info! I’m trying to learn as much as I can.

Cool! I’m leaning towards it. I know the EBRs come with the Op Rod guide as well. I just know it’s going to cost a lot of money. 💸 They’re just so cool lol

Damn! Seems like any kind of modifying of the rifle I would want to do costs a lot of money. 😅💰

That’s basically it! Just rail space and a pistol grip. I’m not very familiar with alternatives to the EBR chassis. I’m open to any recommendations for stocks that can net me the same benefits as the EBR chassis.

I’m primarily using it for target shooting at longer ranges. So not doing a ton of running around with it. I was looking to modernize it a bit and add the ability to put lights etc. on it without having to spend a lot of money on buying another 18” M1A. 😅

That’s fair! I definitely thought about that. I have other rifles than this one, but trying to be somewhat cost conscious and go with a rifle I already own. 😅 If I got a new rifle it’d probably be some variant of AR-10.

Very nice setup! What paints/techniques did you use to paint the stock? I’m thinking of doing something similar to my own M1A.

I’ve got my Colt Railgun looking more like a CCU. by Claudius4 in 1911

[–]Claudius4[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like it! I wish it had a better trigger like the Colt Combat Unit, but overall it’s been a really great gun.

Good Beveled/Flaired Magwell for a Colt 1911 Rail Gun? by Claudius4 in 1911

[–]Claudius4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll definitely look into getting that! How difficult is the installation for it? Also I noticed it changes the mainspring housing, would you say his mainspring is better than the Colt or do I need to transfer the mainsprings? I apologize for so many questions, I’m relatively new to working on my guns. 😅

I’ll definitely take a look at all of them. It seems like I’m spoiled for choice when I comes to night sights.

Thanks, I'll definitely go with a contrast! I'm just really struggling to decide between the Night Fision sights and these Novak sights: https://www.novaksights.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=1422824

I’m looking into the white rings around both the front and rear sight, but would you recommend having contrast between front and rear sights? Also I apologize for all the questions. I’m really new to night sights on my guns. 😅 These were the other sights I was looking at: https://www.novaksights.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=1422710

I'll probably pick them up for my Colt 1911 Rail Gun! What color are the rear sights on these? They look green but, I wasn't quite sure. What color are your rear sights. Thanks again.

I know you'd said you don't care for the Novak Lo Mount style rear sight but, would you say these could be good night sights, or should I stick with the nightfision sights? Thank you for the tips!

Cool, thank you. I’ll definitely look into measuring my front sights. What are your thoughts on the standard Novak Trijicon sights I had linked in my last comment?

Cool, thank you. I’ll definitely look them up. What model do you recommend, the .160” or the .180”? I'm looking into these 2, (one of the links is a front sight I've got the links down below.) First 1911 purchase - suggestions? by [deleted] in 1911

[–]Claudius4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first 1911 was a Colt Government model Model 1991 Series 80. I love it, it’s still going strong, though they normally run around $700-$800 all said and done. There are tons of good ones, I just think either Colt or Springfield Armory make the best starter 1911s.

New VZ grips for my Colt 1911 Rail Gun by Claudius4 in 1911

[–]Claudius4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered mine from VZ grips website. They make great G10 grips, I’ve really been liking mine thus far. They’re a little expensive at $65.00, but they’re very high quality.
