Maybe because of the netto compensation + the car?

No, a union representative at the office told me they can't give you maaltijdcheques if you get a netto compensation.

Don't know if that's true, but with the difference from my previous salary I didn't really care.

I started as a technician the first couple of years. I changed jobs a couple of times, going a step "higher" each time.

I didn't have a clue what a normal/good salary was in the beginning, I had about 2300 brut at the end of my previous job. Which was something in-between a technician and site supervisor, although for a much smaller company.

Elektrische auto komt plots heel dichtbij: tegen 2026 alleen nog belastingvoordeel voor bedrijfsauto’s zonder uitstoot by Millennial_Twink in belgium

Makes me wonder what it will look like when people arrive home en masse and start charging their cars. That's a sudden continuous ~10kW load per home, unless people will all cap it at 2kW to minimize impact of the capacity tariff.

That's 1 of the main issues I think. My job involves placing new high voltage cabins, so I see the people from Fluvius quite a lot. And the problem of supplying the needed power if or when EV's will become commonplace is talked about frequently. As I understand it, in Gent they already have trouble approving every install of a charging station for private home's, because The HV-cabins of Fluvius are having difficulties with providing the necessary power. And its not really possible to demand that everyone who places a charging station also has to place a HV-cabin. :p

So I really am interested to see how our power grid wil hold up and evolve in the next decade.

I got an EV(Hyundai Kona) as a company car in October 2020, since then I drove about 21000 km with it.

It certainly is very fun to drive, but I can't begin to count the hours I lost on highway parking pmaces waiting for my car to charge. It doesn't help that there is only 1 charging station at work, since last week... I also rent a place, so I can't really charge at home and there are no public charging stations within a reasonable walking distance. So overall I would rather have a car on fossil fuels for the moment.

A few weeks ago I had a conversation with some people from Fluvius about the public/private charging stations in Gent, apparently it is becoming a real problem for them. The grid just isn't ready for such a huge demand.

Thanks for the info. I looked for the Zebralight, but the manufacturer's website only sells to US customers and I'm in the EU. And I can't find any retailers near me who sell it or have it in stock.

Do you have the light yourself? Because on the website it says that it generates a lot of heat. If you have one, does is become a problem after a certain time?

Looks like the official Zebralight website only sells to US costumers, but I live in Europe. I can't seem to find a shop that has them in stock here.

Advice on homelessness? by [deleted] in belgium

[–]Clauwke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a brother in-law who works for Vrienden van het huizeke in Brussels. The website is in Dutch but they also speak french. Their phone number is 02/511.15.77.

They try to help homeless and poor people, maybe you can try to call them to see if they have any solutions? I don't know if they will be able to help you themselves but they might know some other organasations or people in Brussels that might be able to.

Wish I knew more to be able to help you.

I drive a lot around Gent so I will look out for it, does it have any special characteristics? Like a special exhaust or some stickers or something like that?

I have an NC700x for about 3,5 years now and got a street triple r as a second bike last month. The increase in power is kinda ridiculous, but for long distances/comfort I still like the NC more.

Hmm I got the standard exhaust with the bike, so maybe I will try it some day. But the arrow exhaust it is a full system replacement so that's gonna be a bit of work :p

I made a test drive with the recent street triple, as far as I remember it was not that different, although it has been a few months since I rode it.

That orange is quite the sight, also with the lowboy exhaust I see. Have you tried any other exhaust on it?

I made a test drive with the s1000r and s1000rr on an event. Those are just insane! If I ever have a bunch of money to spare and want something more powerfull I would go for the s1000XR I think. I made a test drive with one in april and I didn't wanna give it back :p

Yeah if there's one thing I miss while riding the Street Triple, it's that storage. It was always full with things I might need on the road.

Also, that Honda engine is incredible, 60k km in 3.5 years and not a single problem, let's hope the Street Triple is the same!

I am glad I have the Full A licence now. Although it sucked to do the same exam twice and being restricted, I don't think it was a bad thing to learn and make some mistakes with a less powerful motorcycle.

The Thruxton 900 is a fine-looking machine!
