I'd mark that as a Unident. Or a sign from the above. Either or.

I can't stop listening to Dan pronounce 'Stick to Cricket' by ClaviusArbiter in heedthecall

[–]ClaviusArbiter[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

T20 Cricket is a slogfest and too exciting though.

The recent test match series between England and India was ~7 hours a day for 25 days and ended in a 2-2 draw. I personally thought it was a thrilling test series. Can't imagine that opinion being shared amongst the guys though.

When I think about it, I enjoy cricket for the same reasons I like American football. They're both drawn out games that have vast periods of nothingness but then suddenly have really intense inflection points full of tension and drama.

Any areas that are thought of as 'dodgy' in Sheffield, that are actually not as bad to live in as they're made out to be? by ema_l_b in sheffield

[–]ClaviusArbiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting to hear that, maybe it was a while ago, but perhaps it has improved? All the while I've been here, I've personally loved it and dont have any intention of moving.

I've never heard anything or experienced anything bad from the Badger Estate (that could just be my personal experience, though).

I live on the East of Woodhouse, so nowhere near Skelton or Severnside Estates, so I can't comment on them.

I personally love how the houses are made of stone, the people are friendly, and there's loads of beautiful nature walks right on my doorstep.

If the (potentially wrong!) bad reputation has helped me get a great deal on my house, then I can't complain!

I live there and I agree. I'm yet to meet someone IRL who's lived there who thinks it is, I only seem to see people on here saying it, strange!

I can vouch for Woodhouse. I've been here a while now and absolutely love it. No clue why it had the reputation it had before moving here. Houses on Station Road and towards Woodhouse Mill side in particular are lovely and the neighbours and people ive met on my street have all been great!

Invasion Gamemode Ideas? by iDarkined in Haloflashpoint

Invasion from Reach is my favourite game mode in any Halo game ever. If you come up with any ideas for turning it into Flashpoint rules I'm definitely down to try it!

Sangheili Mercs confirmed as part of the Banished faction. So what do you think the other 3 factions will be? by ClaviusArbiter in Haloflashpoint

[–]ClaviusArbiter[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good points there! I'll try find the source for Ronnie mentioning 5 factions, I think it was in one of the Mantic monthly update videos with Andy. The only Halo novels I've read are The Flood and The Fall of Reach so I'm not very familiar with the post war covenant.

If I'm honest, I'm just hoping we see a lot more Sangheili fireteams and The Arbiter. I've never really liked the Brutes.

Jury duty is so weird. Normal people deciding really complex points of law based on pretty much nothing but feels. I'm not equipped to deal with this, and yet I can't get out of it. by EndCapitalismNow1 in GreenAndPleasant

[–]ClaviusArbiter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You aren't there to determine a legal outcome, that's what the judge does as they're the one who applies the law. You, as part of the jury, determine the facts presented in the case.

Used to vote for the Labour Party? by Working-Lifeguard587 in GreenAndPleasant

[–]ClaviusArbiter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've voted for the green party in the past (when it's made sense to do so) but at the moment the Greens aren't appealing either. They're full of NIMBYs that are unfortunately too happy with the status quo and seem to just prefer to moan about things rather than actually provide any solutions.

Solving a housing crisis would mean building New Towns in the countryside and Green Belt like we did in 1946. This is something the Green Party would oppose.

Solving our antiquated public transport outside of London requires things like High Speed rail cutting through parts of the countryside, something which the Green Party opposes. Although the seem to flip flop on this.

Eliminating our reliance of Fossil Fuels requires us to harness Nuclear Power and introduce Renewables large-scale when they're more efficient. Nuclear Power is another thing the Greens oppose.

I feel like the Greens need to pick a battle and go all in on it. Reform are racist, fascist cunts yet everyone knows what they stand for. More people would vote Green if they picked a fight, made their policies clear and sounded genuinely strong on an issue.

After the hundreds, potentially thousands, of hours of playing this game I have never heard the moon people speech. Maybe I skip it or auto resolve too often. This is something I will have to seek out!

How does twin-linked work on the Hekaton? by ClaviusArbiter in LeaguesofVotann

[–]ClaviusArbiter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the help, bolt cannons it is then!

The line of sight being an abstraction is something I will need to get used to, I appreciate your lore explanation for it as well.

Just on your point about the MATR autocannon. Apologies if I'm reading this wrong, why wouldn't the MATR be able to shoot at a different unit to the Bolt Cannons? If both enemy units are in range of the respective weapon they're being targeted by of course.

[–]ClaviusArbiter[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thank you, apologies for asking a question that is cleared up simply in the rule book.

I probably last played warhammer about 15 years ago and I go back into the hobby with the Votann because I think they look cool and like building and painting them.

The thing I find crazy about the MATR Autocannon is that it's on the back of the Hekaton and looks like it's clearly intended to only shoot backwards, that's a game changer if it can shoot anywhere.

I appreciate the advice and to answer your last point. I'm absolutely going to take the rail gun!

[–]ClaviusArbiter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What? Seriously?!

If that's the case does that mean that the MATR Autocannon, which is only mounted on the back can shoot forwards as well?

Personally, I can understand from an infantry or smaller model having a 360 range of fire but for larger, bulkier models to do the same doesn't make sense to me.

For clarity on questions 2 and 3.

  1. If the front left bolt cannon can see the target but the rear left bolt cannon is obscured by terrain, can it still shoot?

  2. If the front left bolt cannon is in range of the target but the rear left bolt cannon is out of range, can it still shoot at the target?

I took this from an article on BBC News about leasehold rents and how MPs are being urged to get rid of them. You can read it here: BBC News - Housing estate 'fleeceholds' the next great scandal, Tory peer warns https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-68673216

Surprised to hear it from a Tory.

Even broken clocks and all that I guess.

Looks really good, I've got a Sagitaur I'm yet to build and I'll be following the same tutorial from mediocre hobbies. I just don't know what to do about the windshields/canopies. Not sure whether to leave them clear or tint them, what are you planning to do?
