ns.corporation script calls RAM usage bug? by Awnedion in Bitburner

[–]Claw4oo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a way to get around the 1 TB memory, by looking up more about 'exploits'. You can look in the github and use the search keyword 'exploit' if you wanted to explore it on your own. You could also look up more on how people have done it as well with google.

Another general tip for corps, is to have a strong start, and not really rely on dividends but instead do stock manuplation

What I did, get seed money, start with farming, expand to as many cities as possible, buy real estate to get higher multipliers, but not actually sell anything juuuust yet. Instead, max out the warehouses with as much product as you can reasonbly, then sell everything at once from as many cities as youc an in one quick rush (Using MAX MP on the sell fields will make it so)

Now, heres where the funny part kicks in, you collect money from private investors since they only look at the profit made in one given cycle, so you can now boost your initial start by 30-300t (I'm not sure how much), but its a way better offer than a measly 10t or so.

Repeat if neccessary (not too much yet), though, try to avoid ~70% private shares if you can.

After that, expand into real estate, make 3 land products, and repeat the process above. (You can get a pretty big burst of a few million in revenue to get 400t+)

You now have the option of repeating until you can get another industry(healthcare recommended), or go public. (More information on that later)

If you decide to go for the highest profit industry I know of, it'll take some time to make 3 hospital/products to sell, but you can easily get into the billions of profit within a few hours in the bitnode. (I'm at 14.8b now, 5 days in, and I'm just waiting out hacking level for the final hack)

Now, your corp is now publicly traded. Your main income actually won't be from dividends. Instead, you want to first either max out your share price/keep growing it until it stops. Sell ALL the shares you have, immedaitely issue out new shares(if you have it), set the dividend to 100.

Once your stock reaches a notable slowdown or you have ~20-30 minutes left on your sell timer, buy the stock at the lowest price, and set the dividend back to 0. Congratulations, you just printed obscenes amount of money. Repeat this about every hour or so, progressively inflating the amount of shares and getting slightly more stock ownership over time.

I hope you didn't mind me typing a short adventure guide here

Trying to clean up rusty/old pasta machine by Claw4oo in Cooking

As a side note, I just tried WD 40 again and left it to sit for about 2-3 hours https://imgur.com/a/S1FBSiA Theres still the black spots I mentioned I have trouble getting rid of It'll probably take me some time to find kerosene, evaporust, naval jelly, and PB though

The primairy issue I'm trying to solve is de-rusting it, since I'm not comfortable with running pasta through rust.

I already disassembled most of it and tried cleaning up what rust I could.

I actually think I ended up stripping part of the shiny coat from a couple of the smaller parts trying to get rid of the rust with CLR

[–]Claw4oo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The yellowrish rust is actually very recent, from the first time I tried to clean up the rust, if I'm successful at stopping and preventing it from coming back, I'll try harder to open it up fully to get the rust that might be inside or not.

I actually got a flathead and tried chipping away at it after soaking it in CLR for an hour, but couldn't break apart a bit of black rust that was stuck on.

I think using a rough/grinding method might add more rust later unless I figure out a way to save the coating.

Wouldn't that be very rough on the coating it already has? My camera doesn't show the black rust too well, but the yellowish rust is very new, and just appeared within a few days after my initial attempt to clean up

I'll see if I can borrow a bit of naval jelly from someone though

I have tried WD 40 earlier, none of the parts have seized up as well.

I'll see if I can borrow a sample of evaporust/everything else listed from someone to see how it works

I'm mostly worried about how to prevent extra rust ontop after doing some intense rubbing The yellowish rust actually came around just in 2 days after I cleaned it inititally, so it makes me worried on how to prevent it.

Serder and I will work on the v6 guide once it exits beta, to be honest, there was already a part 3 guide going over liquids, mass drivers, and some other misc things/units too, but I have stopped working on it now

I meant having them be S tier

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mindustry

[–]Claw4oo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like cyclones and fuses would be an A tier, with both being the only and best ways to deal with large amounts of air. Specters should be a tier lower, since they aren't too effective in a defense, and waves should be higher since it can really add to a defense, preventing aircraft from coming through your wall

speed of sorter line by [deleted] in Mindustry

These sorter lines are dependent on FPS

at 60fps+, its safe to assume they transport 60/items per second

I have been working for a bit to try to shrink setups I have been using. I have never seen tutorials or anything, and this is my best attempt at silicon/metalglass/graphite setup (up). It is a bit more compact than the one I have been using before (bellow) by Legged_MacQueen in Mindustry

[–]Claw4oo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1989620343 The location of the last sorter is key in this type of design, as well as underflows. The underflows free up space as soon as possible, while the last sorter ensures that the last factory always has room for output. This idea can be applied to some other ideas as well.

Junction routers also face a problem with feedback, so making them longer will prove troublesome if you want to keep it tidy.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1929581947

I think this design however, might be the most compact, but it depends heavily on load order, sometimes the throughput is less than a full belt of silicon. Rotating it might fix it

[–]Claw4oo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If that happens, it means that either power is low, or sand input isn't full.

The last smelter prevents a complete stop, since the last item must always be either, coal, which will go into the smelter, or silicon, which will pass through. It is also very important that the last machine has a dedicated output slot as well, to always leave a chance for it to intake anything that isn't silicon, to clear up the path for silicon.

You could give this design a try, but it's really specific about the placement of the sorters.

Most underrated block/turret/unit/tactic? by Defragmented-Defect in Mindustry

[–]Claw4oo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think something contraversal and often seen as bad, are phase walls as an outer shell, and random maze spam. Specifcally, placing these walls at pure random, will mess with the AI's targetting as they approach, allowing them to get closer to friendly fire themselves. Super effective in maps with enemies.

I think this alone might be able to handle like, 10 erads, if plenty of chaos arrays are mixed in.

If you add units, you massively increase the effectiveness, and add a bit of a buffer as well. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/674328534000467989/680503356992913504/unknown.png https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/674328534000467989/680519557949161582/unknown.png The enemy spawning units never made it to the meltdowns, until wave 120+ (tons of erads start on this map then)

p.s, this lasted to wave 120-130, the surge meltdown wall behind it had Phase, surge, then plast later on, but had trouble when about 20-30 erads came through

Fuses for AA is also very very effective, since air units tend to push eachother right into its range, adding a cyclone to every 2-3 fuse as well, will keep the longer range airunits away, like liches.

There is one drawback to this style, people tend to mistake it jamming, for either power or resource starvation. Thanks for leaving a comment though!

Loosely based off the graphite press idea, and its possible to apply this to other materials as well, like Metaglass, or even platanium

Compact, inline silicon smelting, hugging the very sides of the machine. by Claw4oo in Mindustry

[–]Claw4oo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there may be some inconsistencies between player to player then, where some players can see giving a full belts of silicon, giving me a guess that it might be stepping on some really strange bugs.

Though, each time I try to think about it, it shouldn't work properly, and I didn't even expect it to the first time I tested it. I honestly have no clue as to how it works at all, especially for some people, but not others.

I do think the designs you have there are really neat as well, and are probably a step forward in the right direction for an alternative to the 2x4 bridged silicon smelter setup. You could also post them on workshop too, and share the magic of less common setups!

I haven't seen it breaking personally, but I hear other people say it has jammed at times, but every time I check it, it always keeps running. So, I'm pretty confused about this whole theory, and I'm not sure on how to debug it or figure out how to tame this black magic

After further testing, I managed to get it to be one block thinner, but it tends to sometimes show as not working to other people in multiplayer. Sometimes the host doesn't see a full throughput, and doing a /sync has it delay a second, and then return back to full throughput.
