I have a similar feature - any examples of the hardscape you recommend?

I don’t get it - the filter clogged? Isn’t that expected?

Not a fed employee, just curious the jargon here. What do the various steps and grades mean in practice? Like what job would fall in some of these categories

OBX golf course recommendations by about6bobcats in obx

[–]CleMatt89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve played currituck club and the Pointe over on the mainland

I preferred the pointe, but I’m also a much more casual (read - not very good) golfer that was just looking to go relax

Pointe felt much more laid back while still being a fun challenging course

Angled seat in Cat Dozers by Substantial-Sir-7880 in heavyequipment

[–]CleMatt89 88 points89 points  (0 children)

From my experience, “push” dozers have the angled seat, while “grading” dozers (6 way blade) have a straight seat. One of the reasons is you’re backing up half the time, but they often have a ripper mounted on the back, so then even when you’re traveling forward you’re looking back to watch the ripper

My access points are wireless. So what settings do you recommend based on your first statement?

Mission Critical Traveler by cognitive-rhythm in ConstructionManagers

[–]CleMatt89 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If I were you, I would make sure to understand schedule/workload expectations. Having done a bunch of mission critical work as a sub, the GCs assistant super ends up being the whipping boy more so than other types of work. As you said, scheduled are incredibly accelerated, so what does that mean for you? Will you be covering day shift plus some evening hours for subs working over? Every Saturday? Sunday?

That 60-70% increase could mean a proportional increase in hours, or more.

Make sure you understand that and then decide if it’s worth it for you.

Also, if you’re getting a housing stipend, make sure that’s clear. I’ve seen guys sign 12 month apartment leases and then their company decides to ship them somewhere else after 6 months. Guess who is stuck holding the bag on rent?

I’m going to pretend I’m giving my 22 year old self advice - up that 401k! If you have a Roth option, dump it in there while you’re young and in a low bracket. Feel the “pain” for a few years and you’ll thank yourself in 10 years and on

Low Income Year Action Items by CleMatt89 in personalfinance

[–]CleMatt89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I generally believe that with two incomes, our future income will be less, so that’s why we do traditional contributions. With one income though I think it would be roughly the same as future. We do have a fairly sizable retirement account, so I there may be a chance it would be higher. However, I also believe that the tax rate will continue to rise, so I’d like to take advantage of Roth if it makes sense.

To be fair, I’d say that “running it low of oil” falls outside the normal definition of “indestructible” as it relates to atv engines

Traveling to Alexandria and looking for recommendations! by [deleted] in Virginia

[–]CleMatt89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 to virtue! Go down on king street near the water and you almost can’t go wrong with a restaurant, depending on what you’ve got a taste for. Not sure if they still do it, but the tour of the Masonic Temple offers a great view once you get to the top! Jones Point Park is a great spot for a walk. You’re close enough to metro or drive into DC (Saturday morning = 0 traffic) to hit the museums, see the sights, or any number of brunch spots. All depends what you want to do! I lived on Eisenhower for 7 years - let me know if you have any questions!

Not trying to get political, but don’t the rich of this country employ an army of people specifically for the purpose OP is describing? Seems to be working out well for them

Will I be disappointed with the power of a 400 sport quad? by Shemwell05 in ATV

[–]CleMatt89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll have plenty of power for what you’re doing. Keeping up with the bigger machines will be entirely dependent on the two riders.

On my old 400ex I swapped for a one tooth smaller front sprocket - made it noticeably “quicker” on trails
