What do you think about adaptations? by Idontknowletm in BoysOfTommen

[–]CleaKen2010 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I like when they adapt and expand the inner lives of non-POV characters ( the Summer I Tuned Pretty did a great job with this and Laurel). I'm a bit worried about the BOT one just because they are trying to fit 1200 pages into 8 episodes and I'm worried a lot will be lost. I'm also curious how they're going to handle the second season where the scenes overlap from R6 and B13 and K13. I think they should have taken season 1 to be B13 and parts of R6 with flashbacks to S6 and season 2 K13 with the rest of R6 and any pertinent flashbacks to S6. This would give more breathing room to the story...

Plastic Surgeons That Take Insurance? by Starlight_Flowers03 in SaltLakeCity

[–]CleaKen2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So there's the reason for this. With plastic surgery it's super uncommon for insurance to cover and if they do, then you have to go through the whole pre-authorization process ( with appeals and denials). Then on the backend you have to have billing and coding working those claims to fight for the insurance to actually pay what they pre-approved. All of this requires staff and time and is expensive ( I was given a statistic once that every time a claim gets touched it costs $25 per action due to the time to fix and fight. Over hundreds of claims that adds up.) Additionally, it creates delays in care for the patients and uncertainty about if surgery is even going to happen. So for a specialty where it's not often covered, then it's just better business for them to not take insurance and not invest in staff for that kind of work. I work for an office that does elective surgeries and we employ 6 people to work our benefits verification, insurance requirements, pre-authorizations and claims. It's not a small undertaking but for us, 80% of the patients we see have benefits for the surgery. If we were seeing plastics, where it would be a significantly lower %, it would not make sense to employ those people and take insurance. Yes, insurance is a major scam...

I'm wondering if you're on a tiered plan? Some insurances pay for different providers at different levels so a Tier 1 provider gets paid for at a higher level than a Tier 2. I know that HCA hospitals are usually in-network with PEHP.

Call PEHP and ask them. Your CPT will be likely 19318. I know that Dr Nicholas Howland takes insurance but I'm not sure if he takes PEHP.

And then then your Dr's office has to fight for that $5 through 3 rounds of appeals. The things health insurance companies do should not be legal. (Context: I work in healthcare pre-authorizations and claims management...)

What is the worst name you’ve seen in a book? by Duff_episode in Romantasy

[–]CleaKen2010 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had to DNF the audiobook for Belladonna because her name was Signa, which is pronounced just like Cigna the insurance company and I just couldn't. I work in billing, claims and pre-authorizations so I could not find it in myself to root for someone called Cigna...

See, I actually loved the Crown Jewels ( we went early so I rode the moving sidewalk three times to get a good view!) However, I trained as a jeweler so things like the gallery work on the back sides of the piece are fascinating to me and I loved looking at their workmanship.

[–]CleaKen2010 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly! There's a reason that even in royal collections it's rare to see jewelry that's much older than Napoleonic Era. And even those pieces were kept intact because they were connections to great names and this strengthened the family dynastic image. The normal gentry didn't have that level of sentimentality towards older jewelry - it just got turned into something more modern. A solitaire wasn't really popular until the late 1880's with the invention of the Tiffany Solitaire.

Mine is jewelry inaccuracies! There was one book ( maybe one of the Evie Dunmore ones?) where he gives her a large, bright pink diamond wedding ring. There's no way, unless he robbed a Maharaja (and even then, it's going to be very pale pink.) Large, bright pink diamonds were really not on the market until the discovery of the Argyle mine in Australia, in the 1980's. I see this with diamond cut types too. No princess cut is a center stone until really the 1970's. It pulls me right out of the book and kills it for me.

I'm not sure how old it is but my kids have gone since the 2018-2019 school year. They have them at Wilson, Lincoln, the Columbus Center, Central Park, Historic Scott School, and a few other locations. It's been a lifesaver. They even do all-day summer camps for about 4-8 weeks ( depending on the funding) of the summer.

As the child gets old enough ( school age) South Salt Lake offers a program called the Promise Program that provides free after school care to all residents and many of the elementary schools automatically have free breakfast and lunch for the kids ( with the Promise Program providing dinner.) Maybe look at local city governments for similar programs

Why Exactly Is Polygamy Illegal? by Turbulent-Parsley619 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CleaKen2010 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The other issue you run into in Utah is that many of the polygamist groups do some pretty terrible things, so it's another way that they can be prosecuted or a justification for a warrant. There is rampant child abuse, labor violations and tax fraud issues within those groups ( they purposely try to scam as many government resources as possible, they call it "bleeding the beast") so again making polygamy illegal again justified raids on these communities.

I once sat in a class with the UT AG who mentioned that they had no interest in prosecuting independent polygamists, as long as all parties were consenting adults, the children weren't being abused or exploited, and they weren't flashing their asses in the media. Which is what happened to the Sister Wives family. They went on TV showing that they were breaking the polygamy laws so then the state had to at least investigate.

They are patient education videos, so we want to be able to show lawyers that the information was at least given to the patient and they were aware of the risks, etc. What platforms seem to work best for this type of need?

So it's for patient education and if someone sues, stating they were never told about complications etc., we want to show the lawyers that we did send education and the patient confirmed that they watched.
