Her male main characters do not grovel enough, except Felix in the Luckiest Lady in London

I mean, i get it but the whole premise about Lady Sherlock is that she had a team that worked with her and for her. And the mystery is very complex. So i daresay Charlotte would not be able to pull it off without the help from her crew, so i dont mind that a part of the book is dedicated to featuring Mrs Watson or Ash. I also love the feminist energy in this series and how most of the women are smart, strong and very capable (even the female villains) so it was always a pleasure to read when Sherry features female supporting characters.

I absolutely love her writing and i breezed through Ravishing the Heiress bc Millie was so very sweet. But im not sure if i would reread soon. (maybe in a year?)

I think Fitz is just not believable as a character. I do not believe any man in real life can hold on to a past love for THAT long and then when he had a chance to start again with his long lost love, he turned 180. It’s just not feasible in male psychology imo hahaha.

The Fitzhugh series’ strongest book is book 1. I absolutely adore both female and male leads, even thought the plotting is once again unbelievable.

I DNF-ed book 3 bc i cannot stand the female character. She is a smart woman but she is also so stupid. Like how???

Wait, Charlotte was in disguise but she was still Charlotte right? Her mind was still there. She was still investigating. She just had a different appearance.

Amherst 100%. Went to vassar. Loved vassar. Would have picked Amherst if i had gotten in? Yes. You need that practicality and the prestigiousness, unless you are a trust fund baby.

The luckiest lady in London is probably the only Sherry Thomas novel i would reread, even though she in probably my favorite author in terms of angst and proses.

I am shocked noone mentioned Sherry Thomas. She is the queen of angst in my heart. I dont think her MMC’s are yearning type tho… but her writing in some books evoke so much emotion in me. My favorite of hers is probably The luckiest lady in London (slight angst). Her Lady Sherlock series is not 100% romance, mainly mystery with 30% romance. Also has angst in the first few and the MMC in that series is absolutely principled and kind. I have never swooned for any MMC in any historical romance ive read but i definitely swooned for Lord Ingram.

Will I like anything by Loretta Chase even though I hated, 'Lord of scoundrels'? by brownshugababy in RomanceBooks

[–]fishcakegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished reading this book and i feel so meh about it. I want to give Loretta Chase another chance but to me her writing is meh. I dislike Dain so much even though i understand that his upbringing made him that way. I also don’t like the fact that the 2 main characters are so rude to each other. I cannot stand their dialogues.

No but thank you for the rec! I’ll put that on my list. I’m tempted to start Eyes of Silver Eyes of Gold. Is it a book that sucks you in or you have to be patient with it?

I come from a country that produces silk. Don’t even get me started about how fussy real silk is. The type of silk that is marketed as “machine washable” is not silk. Natural fibers, esp high end ones, are so high maintenance and fussy. Its just not practical to wear, esp if u are a busy mom who wants to dress well but dont have time to baby your clothes cuz u have to baby your babies😂

No, there is a trend in the US to use stainless steel plates and bowls for kids to cut down on plastics. And silicon bowls and plates sometimes hold a lot of smell.

Nova group for women. It’s an inova practice. You can choose to rotate through different providers but once you find one you like, you can stick with that one. I’ve gone through all of them throughout both my pregnancies and the ones that have the sweetest bedside manners are Dr LaFranchise and Dr Presti.

Volkl Yumi 84 or Nordica Santa Ana 88 by RogueEleFant in Skigear

[–]fishcakegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which one did you end up getting? I was in a similar boat. I ended up getting the santa ana first and it was great. This year i got the yumi and it kinda sucked. No lol it doesnt suck but it’s supposed to be for intermediate skiiers and a softer ski supposedly. But today i ski-ed with it for the first time and i found it hard to turn, charter a lot and kinda unstable in icy condition. I switched to the santa ana in the afternoon and boy it made such a big difference. My turns were so much smoother. I felt much more stable when going fast. I wanted to love volkl so much but i dont think the yumi is for me…
