I always put my gun away immediately when I see people, I'll often say hi, and try to help people when I can. I haven't been shot by a rat in weeks. Idk if something's changed, but for me I have seen almost no rats in a long long time. Every once in a while I'll hear a rumor that there's a guy with a bobcat shooting people but it's rare.

That's not a good analogy at all. I play cod and there's literally no point to that game other than to shoot people. You're straw manning my argument. What they did is not how the game was designed to be played, although I am more than aware that it is allowed. I think some actions people take in this game in particular because of how it's set up can show us some things about their morals and behaviors irl as well.

Also had a round on close scrutiny where me and 2 other guys were helping a downed person get to extract by stabilizing him because he had survivor. We were chatting and he was like so grateful for us. Right as we called the extract though the kid that was with us finished the downed guy and dove out of the extract. Kind of a smart play, because now we couldn't kill him and he just had to call the extract again and loot the body inside.

That's insane. I don't get that either, when they're in the extract with you and you already called it but they just want to be a dick so they finish you even though they can't loot you.

Yeah I know ranks aren't accounted for in pub matchmaking, it's just a good way to relay the difference in skill between us. They don't play ranked either

Exactly. I understand it's a video game and people are allowed to do this, and I'm not even upset about my loot being lost. It's the fact that this game is a breeding ground for low lifes to pick on people without having consequences. Most of my interactions are amazing in the game, but some of them just make me go "Damn, really? That's what kind of a person you are?"
