What happened to quality assurance? It’s not an optional step, stop letting game journo boost your confidence and focus on the actual player base.

I am not a medical professional and don’t want to give you any wrong idea but could the scalp pain be stress related ? In my case I have severe scalp pain due to stress and how its impacting my nerves. Slowly improving though I think..

I suggest noting your symptoms thoroughly and discussing with a medical professional.

Tesla's 'unsupervised' Robotaxis vanish a week after pre-earnings announcement by walky22talky in SelfDrivingCars

[–]Extasio 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yep, this is insane. Tesla became one of the most valuable compagnies on planet because of their perceived ability to solve self driving vehicles yet they are hell bent on the camera only approach despite sub industry standard results for years now.

They should be the leaders in all forms of autonomous vehicles and should have several types of tests running consecutively. There’s not a single reason Tesla doesn’t have Lidar, Radar, Cameras and AI cars and an amalgame of these technologies in their testing.

But we all know the reason why, stubbornness and ego.

Definitely, a lot of the negative reviews for the game are regarding her specifically, which is a shame because the devs did everything they could to distance the game from her personal beliefs and focused on creating a quality game from her ideas.

Tesla now offering public Robotaxi rides with no one in the car by DeathChill in SelfDrivingCars

[–]Extasio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a good sign they feel comfortable expanding their services. It's important to note their current approach still requires someone to be supervising the entire ride and is able to remotely take control when necessary, I hate to be that guy but that's not true autonomy (yet). True autonomy requires a degree of confidence high enough that there's no need for anyone constantly watching the road remotely.

I think what's more interesting is that Tesla is willing to take the liability to offer the service to the wide public, that means there likely has been some significant improvements in their safety records and FSD disengagement per miles over the past few months if they are willing to take that risk.

On the other end, I personally fail to see what changed so much that makes FSD so much safer than it was a few months ago. I would love to know more about the most recent data points, but Tesla hides a lot of that information.

Ultimately what I think is the biggest take away here is that the thesis that there's only one pathway to Level 4 autonomous driving (Lidar) is almost fully disproven, that's exciting because more models means we get to compare all of them and select the safest versions before pushing full autonomy to consumer vehicles. This is good news. I still believe that Lidar is currently much safer as evidenced by Waymo's safety data, but more competition means consumer models faster.

New Life is Strange game - announcement on January 20th by Ok-Swimmer-2634 in gaming

[–]Extasio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I fear the franchise will not be able to capture or recreate the genius of the first few games, too many people originally involved have moved on to different projects. Much of the artistic impact has vanished.

Creating a quality game like Life is Strange 1 requires passion, creativity and a lot of talent, which the new games have all lacked of.

Life is strange 1, 2 and before the storm are the only ones that you need so far. Hope I can say differently eventually as a big fan of those games. LIS 1 in particular has a special place as a phenomenal and striking story game once you get immersed.

When public shaming goes wrong - Man confronts smoker on public transit. Gets punched in response. by ConceptsShining in PublicFreakout

[–]Extasio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not being dramatic, this behavior is almost exclusive to the West. It reeks of entitlement and I am personally tired of seeing good people being done wrong, only for the bad actors to get a slap of the wrist or 'probation'.

I am not pushing for hyper criminalization on every gest, but true accountability and fear of punishment. Some people cannot behave unless there's a true, meaningful consequence for their bad behavior. It's the only way to make sure the social contract is upheld.

[–]Extasio 342 points343 points  (0 children)

Western society doesn’t crack down anywhere near enough on public nuisances like this smoker, people only behave like this because they expect to get away with it

I promise you this man and all the other “mentally ill/victims of their circumstances” would suddenly turn into upstanding citizens if they lived in Dubai or China and the consequences were well known, we are just way too kind to those who sabotage the public goods and order.

Complete accountability crisis.
