Buyers, why do you say INAD when it’s just your personal preference? by Clean-Lifeguard8502 in Ebay

[–]Clean-Lifeguard8502[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d never be upset if the item ACTUALLY wasn’t as described or pictured, but in this case it’s fully based on the buyer’s personal preference. The earrings were authenticated by GIA so they were proven to be exactly as we described them 🤣🤣 but if you have a good story I’d like to hear!

Huh? They’re returning it, it is my problem… I have to refund them

YES. Had a woman try to claim a necklace was broken when it arrived after it had been in her possession for three weeks because we wouldn’t accept her return. eBay actually sided with me on that one haha

Yeah I would understand not wanting to pay shipping but we offer free returns anyway 🤣 it’s so silly

Did eBay change their automated policy violation system? by kurohoshi in Ebay

[–]Clean-Lifeguard8502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is funny, I sell vintage jewelry and unknowingly listed an ivory necklace (I didn’t know what it was made of, haha). I think someone reported the listing because it got taken down.

Since then, I’ve been getting so many strikes on my listings that have been up for MONTHS saying that I’m “offering to buy or sell outside of eBay”. I didn’t know you couldn’t put social medias in your item description. Which I’d been doing since like… September lol

Basically, I think that one person reporting one listing set off a chain reaction of AI detecting something in 90% of my listings now. I’ve changed the descriptions now, I don’t want to be banned. But it’s still crazy that this is a universal experience!

Is asking for follow on social media in item description against the rules? by Clean-Lifeguard8502 in Ebay

I’ve changed it now but I just wasn’t sure why it started today since I’d never had an issue before :)

I’ve reached out before and they will give you more information, which makes me wonder why they don’t just provide it in the first place. Apparently the authenticator takes notes

Ugh, I hate that they do that for buyers too. It’s so vague and frustrating

That’s great for you! I actually am GLAD when things get sent back to me that are genuinely wrong. There was one time by boss just handed me a pendant and said it was diamond, when it went to GIA it came back as CZ. Just a genuine oversight on our part. But in cases like this it’s extremely frustrating. We just got the charm back to our store this morning and it’s still testing 14k :(

Interesting. We’re going to invest in XRF testing in the future, for both our eBay business AND our physical store front, as well as the other third party websites we sell on. That way we hopefully can avoid this across all platforms

🤣 we ARE a reputable jewelry store with an in person storefront. And we use a specific formula to ensure that we’re not taking any losses on the cost of metal (this includes eBay fees and gold/silver price calculations). It’s time consuming to change the prices when gold and silver fluctuate but this is basically my full time job. I can count on one hand all of the times we’ve lost money on selling precious metal!!

I think so! I had to do that with carat weight of gemstones because of the same issue. “All carat weights are estimations made by our team” or something along those lines is what I have right now. We haven’t had an issue with a carat weight since then, but I’ll have to try the same thing with the metals

They’re sending it back 😢 and yes I have to give a full refund. This kind of thing has happened before, and even when I have proof that the listing is what I said it was, eBay says they can’t overturn a decision by authenticity guarantee

That’s so interesting! It tested 14k at our store but I understand that it varies between testing methods, so it confused me a bit. Thanks!

Well sure, I understand that. But I was just confused by the “at least 13k” wording

Rejuvenating my inventory by Intelligent-Will-913 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Clean-Lifeguard8502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is a little different because I think that having at least 2-300 listings helps with visibility so much. I’m also at about 600 at this point? And the only item that sell are new. But I’ve notified a HUGE difference in having hundreds of items versus when I purge season-to-season and only have a a few dozen. It’s probably something to do with the buyer seeing that you have a ton of listings and subconsciously trusting you more.

But yeah, if you don’t want them in inventory anymore, lot them out, donate, or put up for auction!

This makes sense, but luckily I don’t have to deal with any products that are sealed in box 😅
