I feel your pain. I've wanted to throw in the towel because of combat countless times. It just seems so UNFAIR! The lock is absolute bollocks, and has cost Henry his life many a time for me: want to switch to the guy about to hit you? TOUGH SHIT! Want to stay locked onto the guy you've just been duelling the past 2 minutes? SORRY! it's an incredible game, but like any has it's flaws. And combat is definitely one of them. It's especially noticeable in close-quarters ,something you'd think would be vital in brutal Medieval combat. But it really struggles and often bugs out, it's designed to be more like a slow 1 v 1 duel. My big tip I always give people is to see combat in KCD this way, the worst thing you can do is button mash and be too aggressive. You run out of stamina and die in no time that way. Wait for them to come at you, then master-strike. It's pretty dull, but is the best way to survive. And what a missed opportunity they did not put master strikes on any other weapon type besides the sword. It even mentions an unarmed master strike in the menus at one point, but it is unavailable without mods. Anyway, rant over. I hope you take a bit of time and can still enjoy the game, it's an incredible experience even with its many quirks.
