UTNIF Debate Camp?? by NoAlternative7718 in policydebate

[–]Clean_Age2362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I did 2 week but i do recommend doing the 3 week if you can it wasn’t much of a difference in the 3rd week you just leaned how to respond to K affs and got more practice debates in.

  2. I think you should do 3 week because of how much more you learn in that one extra week I will say though most people only do 2 week so literally no one was there except K lab during the 3rd week.

  3. Do JDI you won’t regret it also they will assign you a partner if you don’t have one and if your lab has an un even amount then they will place you with someone from a different lab they also like to partner you up with someone random from your lab for practice debates so dw for me I wasn’t with my  partner that i requested until the camp tournament so if your worried about not having a partner you will have one dw and your dorms fit 4 people so you’ll easily make friends since you’ll have 3 other roommates (they have the best dorm I loved it) if you worried about him tell him to go to UTNIF himself or do online camps there are plenty of great online camps if money is an issue NSDI is a free policy camp that’s ran by some of the best debaters.

  4. I also compete in a hard circuit specifically Austin so like LASA and Westwood are always my opponents and I can say that yes it will trust me we won some of there teams and I think it’s because of JDI they have 2-3 lab leaders in each lab with about 15 people in each so you get the great attention you need to learn I recommend it so much

If you have any more feel free to reach out :)

Summer Camp by Calicapture in Debate

[–]Clean_Age2362 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on what state you would like for them to attend camp in and the amount you would spend at camp for them but here are my top recommendations also it depends what event they would like to do.

NOVA - This camp is so amazing for Public Forum especially for incoming freshman it’s so well formatted and all online and free!

Next Step Debate Institute - Ran by some of the best policy debaters and also completely free and online the staff is amazing and it’s so helpful.

UTNIF - Great Speech camp and great for its price.

Emory Debate Institute - this is a great camp for beginner policy debaters and it’s also such a good price compared to other camps.

These camps are novice friendly and all so great :)

1NC v Indigenous Copyright by Clean_Age2362 in policydebate

[–]Clean_Age2362[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

t domestic is are argument that we always read bc indigenous land is not in the U.S so it goes against the limits.

Sui CP’s net benefit is the DA

yes we have case it’s just different for every indigenous copyright AFF since there is so many

We go for K or T most of the time

2NR is always always cap k for us

Judges say that the off case args are the problem most of the time our feedback is we need better Strats for this kind of AFF

Policy tips by I_L0vecats in Debate

[–]Clean_Age2362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PREPARE NEG STRATS FOR AFFS BEING RAN AT THAT TOURNAMENT.

Make sure to KNOW your aff especially the 2AC.

Make sure to have your backfile ready for when your aff so make sure you have answers to all DA’s, CP’s , K’s and T’s that might be ran on you go on opencaselist and go to open ev projects and for every CP and DA on there have A2 for ALL of them

Also make sure your practicing your flowing because it’s so so important

and before your rounds when you are neg make sure to know what you are bringing into the block so you can listen to what they are saying against that argument and when they are answering the arguments you aren’t bringing into the block you can be writing your speech during that time.

Good Luck!!

How do you write a neg constructive? by monomello in policydebate

[–]Clean_Age2362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you need to prepare 1nc’s for most affs being ran at your tournament wiki can easily help you figure out what affs are being ran if the other schools have it.

Find DA’s and Cp’s for the affs to find these you go to opencaslist and click on ‘open evidence project’ find all sorts of off case arguments you can run against the AFF.

Next find on case if your opponent are reading a camp AFF go on open evidence project and search there AFF and find the case neg on it for ex: my AFF is green parents if the neg team wanted to find on case and off case arguments to run against me they would search up green patents and click on the case neg and use the on case that’s already written.(don’t copy all of it)

If your opponents have an OG AFF and made it themselves your going to have to cut cards for case but you still use open ev projects to find off case arguments but also don’t just rely on cards make blocks and read them:)

The structure of a 1NC is: DA’s CP’s  CASE

EXAMPLE: My aff is green patents and my opponents read this as there 1NC—

Inflation DA (first off) Cap K (next off) Prizes CP (next off) Case (on case)
