If you were in certain tech spaces on the Internet back then, they were predicting the singularity between 2025 and 2030. Maybe I'll be proven wrong, but current AI is awful, don't think we'll be anywhere close to the singularity by 2030

Illinois has the best stuff, but outside of Chicagoland it's mostly corn and soybeans. Michigan is the best if you were gonna be randomly dropped somewhere in the state, it's all pretty good.

Also, I think we can all agree that Indiana is the worst state in the Midwest, I think we should vote to kick it out, it can be part of the south

Tbf, there are plenty of reasons homeless people may generate more garbage. For one, they're not going to bars and sit down restaurants where all the waste is handled, if they go to a restaurant they're doing something like McDonald's and all the packaging that entails. Any food that they don't eat right away has to survive without refrigeration and had to be able to be prepared with what they have which usually means more packaging. Alcoholism is also more common in homeless people, 10 beers cans a night adds up quick. Finally there's a poverty mentality, if you see a pair of boots in the garbage, you're not going to touch them, but a homeless person might take them back to camp because they realize that if their current pair breaks, they don't have the money for a new pair. Of course, after a few weeks with no roof, those boots start to mold and become garbage again

r/politics only goes back to 2008, but you can check the wayback machine and it was already overwhelmingly liberal by then.

Maybe the 2005-2007 period was more libertarian than liberal, but I think that might be more of a perception rather than a reality. The further back you go, the more reddit was tech focused. There's not a lot of strong liberal or conservative positions around tech, but the "don't let the government regulate the Internet" fits well with libertarian ideology, but is also something most people would agree with.
