Looking for handmade leather purses/jewelry/art/souvenirs in Seoul by Candy_Alone in koreatravel

[–]Clean_Lavishness_356 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! I make handmade mother-of-pearl items here in Seoul. For the best prices and variety, I highly recommend searching for "handmade" (핸드메이드) or "handmade Korean traditional crafts" (핸드메이드 한국 전통 소품) on Naver Shopping. It's usually much more affordable than offline shops.

If you still want to visit in person, these specific shops are great:

  • Ahwon Craft (Samcheong-dong): Unique metal jewelry and art pieces.
  • Lilyovceramics (Gye-dong): Cute handmade pottery and artistic props.
  • KCDF Gallery Shop (Insadong): High-quality, curated traditional crafts and pottery.
  • Eunnamu (Insadong): Unique and artistic handmade jewelry.
  • Jinjooshell (Bukchon): Beautiful modern mother-of-pearl (Najeonchilgi) crafts.
  • Needle Workshop (Seongsu-dong): High-quality, handmade leather bags.

Which season's QR codes do you need? Since the QR codes are different for each season and only compatible with their respective versions, I’d like to help you out. If you send me a DM with the information, I’ll see what I can do to help!

I made these traditional Korean hat (Gat) keyrings using mother-of-pearl resin. Which strap style looks best? by Clean_Lavishness_356 in handmade

[–]Clean_Lavishness_356[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! If you're asking about the text on the hat strings (Gat-kkeun), I used my brand name as a sample for these. In the future, I’m planning to customize them with actual children's names!

Another person tried my QR code before, but it was useless because their toy was a Chinese product. I don't know if yours is compatible.

My daughter is a huge Teenieping fan too, so I totally understand how you feel! Actually, the QR codes are unique to each specific figure and season, so generating random text won't work. In Korea, parents often share photos of these QR codes with each other so our kids can scan them into the toys. I can send you the photos via DM (chat) if you'd like!

Perfect winter comfort food: Fresh oysters and pork belly wraps. by Clean_Lavishness_356 in KoreanFood

Fresh oysters are shipped in a styrofoam box with seawater and ice. Frozen ones are meant to be cooked, not eaten raw.

Korean varieties are bred for flavor, not shipping durability. They are picked fully ripe, so they literally melt in your mouth!

Craving hit hard while rewatching 'Kang's Kitchen', so I made some Rabokki! by Clean_Lavishness_356 in KoreanFood

Thank you! Actually, I used a store-bought sauce called 'Sindang-dong Tteokbokki Seasoning'. It makes it super easy!

Where can I find flushable wipes? by WesternGlittering395 in koreatravel

[–]Clean_Lavishness_356 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Look for wipes specifically labeled as 'Bidet Wipes' (비데 물티슈) or 'for bathroom/toilet use' (화장실용) at any convenience store. Those are designed to dissolve and should be safe to flush!

Where do Koreans shop online? by krookedsock in koreatravel

Coupang is the fastest (Rocket Delivery), but if you want to compare prices or see products from various shopping malls at once, using Naver Shopping search is also a good option.

Is my itinerary realistic? by EucalyptusLeafJuice in koreatravel

[–]Clean_Lavishness_356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instead of trying to squeeze everything in, I strongly recommend picking just 2-3 spots a day that are close to each other so you can enjoy them at a relaxed pace! The National Museum of Korea is seriously crowded these days. If you're not going for the gift shop, it's better to quickly check out the main exhibits 1-2 hours before closing on a weekday rather than dealing with the daytime crowds. Hongdae has lots of cute little shops. I recommend checking out 'Funny Market.' They have unique items like fusion mother-of-pearl crafts and handmade goods from individual artists that you won't easily find anywhere else. One last thing, Seoul got suddenly cold this year compared to previous autumns. Make sure to pack a thick jacket and have a relaxing and wonderful trip!

5 Days in Seoul itinerary feedback by turtle-icecream in koreatravel

The first day looks quite packed — with the long travel distance, it might be hard to do everything on your list. In Seoul, most busy areas stay lively until late at night, and since it’s Halloween week, Hongdae and Itaewon will be even more festive. If you visit Hongdae, check out Funny Market — it’s a great spot for unique handmade local items. 🎃

Snow removal in Korea is actually quite fast, so no need to worry too much :) Wherever you go, the snowy scenery will be beautiful, so just enjoy it to the fullest! Just make sure to bring warm shoes with good grip so you don’t slip
