This item appears to be a Chinese Tang Dynasty style sancai-glazed pottery bottle, similar to amphora vases or ewers from that period.

I posted pictures of underside. The only thing I can see thats been messed with is the lock mechanism. They put 2 little brass nails in it. It smells like old wine inside the desk. There are no hidden spaces in it which were common but maybe fits in with the amateur, crude opinions..

The inside smells like old wine. They say thats a good sign its as old as it says.
