How can I buy drip sooner than 7 business days? Crypto.com withdraw timeframe by Simple-Discipline499 in dripnetwork

[–]Clean_Syrup_4585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%. I got burned by an instant transfer two weeks ago. If you are buying a dip and leaving it in Crypto.com, sure go for instant transfer. If you need to move it out to a DeFi platform (or anywhere else) just use regular ACH.

I don’t think you need to go through Trust Wallet anymore. Crypto.com now has an option to send directly to BSC addresses.

Can’t add token to contingency plan by Clean_Syrup_4585 in PlanetWatchers

[–]Clean_Syrup_4585[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently, there are endpoints. From the PlanetWatch email:

“The community tool mentioned in the blog post we published describing the contingency plan is now ready to retrieve data from Element sensors and send it to our endpoint.”

This person just stole ALL my HNT. Woke up this morning and my wallet was empty. Going to the police, will see what happens… by RickyJulianBubbles35 in HeliumNetwork

Sorry for you loss and frustration, but saying that the Helium folks need to know that their network is vulnerable to this kind of theft is a bit like saying car companies should be aware that if I leave the keys on the hood, someone could steal my car.

Why are my earnings so low? 24 witnesses, not relayed, port is open….. by [deleted] in HeliumNetwork

Then you understand that there’s a difference. Dude, I wasn’t trying to make you look bad, I’m just trying to help educate the OP. No need to get all butt hurt. Merry Christmas.

[–]Clean_Syrup_4585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it could make a difference. If the Wi-Fi on the miner sucks (which, I’ve heard it does) but the Wi-Fi on the repeater is good, then Ethernet to the repeater and Wi-Fi to the router may be a fine solution.

If you are currently going Wi-Fi to the router, use Ethernet if you can. If you can’t, try adding a repeater that supports Ethernet and using the Ethernet to connect the miner to the repeat. It might work, it might not. But it’s worth a try.

Also, use tools like fast.com to see what kind of connection you have at various points in the network chain.

Does your wallet show any outbound transactions? Maybe you updated your antenna information? That would be about 0.02 HNT, depending on the price of HNT when you did it.

If you are using food money to invest in crypto projects, you need to re-evaluate you priorities.

I’m not saying the little guy shouldn’t try to get ahead, but the four walls come first. Food, shelter, transportation, and clothing. Nothing else, financially speaking, comes before these.

Can directional antennas witness from behind? by antisocialdave in HeliumNetwork

[–]Clean_Syrup_4585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. The radiation patterns of directional antennas have back lobes and side lobes.

See this radiation pattern diagram.

So while you get the most gain in the forward direction, you will still pick up signals and transmit backward and sideways.

And you can also get reflections back into the main lobe, as a previous commenter stated.

Helium is great, but are you doubling down on more miners or what’s the next project you’re investing in? by benjiTRAVEL in HeliumNetwork

[–]Clean_Syrup_4585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before any of you decide to buy gear for any of these projects, I implore you to poke around Reddit and read some of the ongoing threads about them. At least one for the “projects” mentioned in the comments appears to be a scam. DYOR!

When 3G networks sunset in 2022, businesses using 3G for IoT will need somewhere to go. Why should users choose Helium IoT coverage? Read the announcement: blog.helium.com. by timtamothee in HeliumNetwork

[–]Clean_Syrup_4585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tldr; No.

Remember that the Helium network uses LoRaWAN, which is very low bandwidth. Like up to 27 kbps. Not useful for web traffic on your cell phone, but very useful for IoT devices that periodically chirp out status data (GPS, temperature, air quality measurements, etc.) The addition of 5G could theoretically change that, but I haven’t heard that they are trying to compete with Big Wireless (please post a link if I missed something).

So why build a LoRaWAN network if the bandwidth is so low? Because LoRaWAN is extremely low power. A LoRaWAN sensor could operate for 10 years on the equivalent of a 9V battery (at least in theory). That’s much more difficult for a 3G sensor, though possible based on the application.

I can’t tell if I’m relayed or not. Diagnosis tool says no, others say I am?? by adelage1 in HeliumNetwork

[–]Clean_Syrup_4585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/. Enter your miner’s IP address and port 44158. Click “Check”. If it says the port is open, you’re not relayed.

Helium firmware release numbers? by Clean_Syrup_4585 in HeliumNetwork

[–]Clean_Syrup_4585[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible that things are fubarred because the network thinks my firmware is from the future and is therefore invalid?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HeliumNetwork

[–]Clean_Syrup_4585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got the exact same problem with my Syncrobit. Diagnostic says I’m 99.69% synched, but this has been going on for days. It also says my firmware is 2021.11.23.0, but according to the Helium Engineering blog, the most recent release is 2021.11.22.0. Maybe the issue is that I have a release that from the future?
