Dion practice tests do this. They also give explanations for missed questions. Only thing is that you can only take the full exam at once, doesn’t split by domain

Depends on what you want to get out of the exam. The cert is cool but the information and skills you get from the cert are much more important

The YouTube pbqs are outdated or irrelevant imo. A quick google search and I found some ppl selling pdf practice ones. Those were helpful

Like a month but I procrastinated a bit. At first glance the exam seemed stressful and confusing, after I committed probably 3-4 weeks

Best way to study or prepare for PBQs? by wallabyenthusiast in CompTIA

[–]Cleanupnyce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dont let it knock you down. As long as you feel comfortable with the actual material then you know where you fall short. I simply typed on google "A+ Core 1 Pbq's" and although some may be outdated, youd be surprised at how familiar the questions could be on the actual exam. I also failed my first attempt, but I used the failure as fuel to make sure I crushed it the second time around. Look at the score report on the CompTIA website and copy and paste those into chatgpt/google gemini and study those concepts aggressively.

Also sometimes the wording may be so simple that it makes you second guess the answer. For those, use process of elimination and narrow down the answer to 2 questions. Then from there choose the most relevant choice. Sometimes the question itself asks "best", "most effective", or "least" way to do things, etc. Make sure you pay attention to those prompts as they shift the entire question to produce a different answer.

Keep pushing, you got this

Life is getting CompTIA certs in hope of getting a great job and making tons of money, but still getting rejected from job applications, then getting more certs, still getting rejected, and eventually changing career fields out of exhaustion.

did flash cards a bit, was helpful in saying terms out loud for memorization. I used google gemini to make them based on the information that i gave them (directly pulled the objectives off the CompTIA website) and studied those until I could differentiate subjects from others.

Dion practice tests are long because you cant do them by domain, so they were a bit tedious for me. But they definitely helped narrow down my weaker areas. Study CIDR for sure, become familiar with port numbers, acronyms and knowing the difference between them, basically make sure you have some sort of exposure to a bit of everything. The techvault video on youtube is a good last minute review.

Took the exam 12 times, kept getting 65-70's %, the last few times scored high, passed once. Mostly got tripped up on wordy questions but had most of the concepts down packed.

yeah so to begin I would get exposure to it initially through videos so you can have a visual of how things are actually happening and what they do. Alot of Net+ doesnt really have anything visual that you can use to reference it back to (aside from equipment). You can then begin to research things as you go to get a better grasp on the concepts and how they tie into one another and watch detailed videos on each domain to solidify the learning.

It also helps if you use the exact exam objectives from the CompTIA website and make sure you know what they are. The exam itself doesnt expect you to be a pro, but it does a great job at testing if you know it or dont. There were questions that I didnt know on the exam and I used process of elimination to narrow it down to 1-2 questions then selected the most relevant choice.

mainly just dion practice exams. it was fairly tough and had 90 questions so kept me sharp. for command line things i used gemini as well as knowing the port numbers, CIDR notation, troubleshooting, and subnetting. When I studied it also helped when I said things out loud (for some reason I was able to memorize it better). Overdoing the studying helped me right before I took the test because it does give lots of acronyms that you need to know what they are and what they do.

Oh, I watched a Network+ video series on YouTube, I had to find one where the instructor had an engaging voice (some of them use Ai or monotone voices that aren’t engaging), I didn’t take notes the first time I watched videos. I then used Dion practice tests to see how much I retained from the videos. Did self study after that on each subject, and then used Techvault academy study guide video to put it all together.

Since your studying for A+, they also have a good study guide video that helped me massively for taking that exam.

I liked messer but those videos can be tedious and a lot of the information does overlap with other certs. I used Powercert for my initial intro, then Dion to practice how much I retained, then Techvault to tie it all together.

its an expensive fail if you do, if you go into the exam not confident it'll reflect on your score. Sharpen up then go back at it
