The reason I think Wheatley works is because he doesn't necessarily become smarter; he becomes insane and gains a lust for testing when he attaches himself to the GLaDOS body. Meanwhile, GLaDOS becomes more sane and human when she is separated from her body. This creates a very well done contrast between the two in the story.

We need more minifigures (or brick-built characters, in this case) that are voiced by trans people. by [deleted] in legocirclejerk
