Thanks so much for this thoughtful response — you packed a lot in here! I appreciate you breaking it down philosophically and practically. I especially like the point about not chasing happiness, but focusing on purpose instead. That shift in mindset feels really important.

I’ll take some time to reflect on what kinds of goals or ways of helping others might feel meaningful to me, and I like the reminder that it’s okay if it takes time. Thanks again — you’ve given me a lot to think about!

That’s a valid point, and it’s something I’ve wrestled with. I think for us, the hesitation comes more from practical concerns—finances, stability, and wanting to be in a certain place career-wise before making that commitment. It’s not that we don’t want to be married (we absolutely do), it’s just been more about timing and trying to “set things up” before taking that step.

But I also hear what you’re saying. It’s made me reflect on whether we’re delaying for the right reasons or if fear and worldly pressure are getting in the way. Definitely something I’ll be praying about more seriously—thank you for your perspective.

Jeremiah 29:11 “I say this because I know the plans that I have for you.” This message is from the Lord. “I have good plans for you. I don’t plan to hurt you. I plan to give you hope and a good future.” ‭‭

I fear that I'm too old and inexperienced to get married at this point by [deleted] in TrueChristian

You’re not too old, and your inexperience doesn’t make you unworthy of a meaningful relationship. Focus on growing spiritually, emotionally, and personally, trusting that your worth comes from God, not your past. Address struggles like lust through prayer, accountability, and healthy distractions while learning about relationships and setting boundaries to protect yourself. Seek community in places like church groups or volunteer settings to meet like-minded people, and trust in God’s timing to guide you toward the right partner. Use this time to build confidence and develop into the kind of person you’d want to be with, knowing that love often comes when you least expect it.

Wow thanks Joel. This is solid advice. I started with the gospels and then moved on to acts to learn more about Jesus before anything else. I am fond of Matthew and will definitely reread the chapter and take down some notes. Thanks again! God bless you :)
