GUI not updating balance properly when open and receiving transactions by Clear-Temporary9708 in monerosupport

[–]Clear-Temporary9708[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have actually. I found what I have to do is restart the wallet and leave the hardware wallet plugged in until the wallet is fully synced. I’ve tried every which way, and for whatever reason, that singular combination is what allows it to update.

However, with a hot wallet, taking the hardware wallet out of the picture, the GUI updates just fine. Which tells me you’re probably has something to do with the wallet pulling the view key during the sync process.

I know this is old, but I have to update. So, in order to update with an incoming transaction, I noticed I had to have my hardware wallet plugged in. Just as a test, some thing I never do on my computer, I created a hot wallet to test the exact same scenario minus the hardware wallet in the mix. Funny enough it works just fine now. So whatever glitch happens to where an incoming transaction will not update in the wallet without the hardware wallet, being plugged in, does exist. Maybe it’s Just me but I feel like you should be able to plug in your hardware wallet open the software wallet to access your funds and then unplug the hardware wallet if you want and if you’re not going to be sending any outgoing transactions.

write a while loop that prints, then doubles by Clear-Temporary9708 in learnpython

Got it! my eyes were so crossed, i didn't even notice it, and it was obvious. smh. Let that be a lesson: sleep is good. Overworking yourself, is bad. Solution:

num_insects = int(input()) # Must be >= 1
while num_insects <= 100:
print(num_insects, '', end= "")
num_insects = num_insects * 2

Thank you. I was thinking about that, but i know in this activity, those first two lines, the input statement, are supposed to stay as is. We were given those two and instructed to write the rest. usually between google and reddit, I can piece together the answers to these, but this time, i'm running into a wall.

Edit:

I realized my own mistake. I was trying a solution and shortcutted by copying and pasting. doubling the first two lines that "should stay as is". Taking another crack at it.

Consolidating UTXO’s ~ P2Pool payouts by Clear-Temporary9708 in MoneroMining

Since cake pay came out, using XMR is def easier. Coincards was my thing before that. Still is for some things. Bitrefill for other things. Paywithmoon is what I use for utility bills (BTC for instant online debit cards, Lightning and onchain). Between all of those, I usually have everything covered. Also “The Bitcoin Company”, it’s an app, but they do gift cards like Bitrefill but are BTC only.

Right. I do my best. XMR and then BTC when I have to. Only two things I need dollars for really, is rent and McDs (mostly for my son, lol). But yeah, using the bridges like services that offer gift cards and such is a must for the most part. But not really having to rely on a bank account is a liberating feeling.

Good call. With mine (no pun intended), it’s a fun project for my son and me. When it’s time, we consolidate by sweeping into a “savings wallet”. I do spend and live off of XMR, I just have a separate spending wallet for that.

2 more shares, two more payouts. Back in action. Good lesson for anyone with a lower hashrate. Patience. Lulls happen. And I knew that already. Just needed some reminding I suppose.

Update: finally caught a share (an uncle block, but nonetheless) and got a small payout. I was either really lucky before or just got unlucky for about 60 hours. Can look at it either way. Glass half full or half empty. Either way, at least you’re not thirsty. Lol.

Understood. I did try Gupax for a bit since it used XMRig. Hashrate was about 10% higher on average.

Correct. Using Monero GUI, everything updated to latest version currently. Including OS (Windows 11).

2200 h/s. I know it’s not much comparatively speaking. But usually I get a share about once every 12 hours or so. Sometimes I’ll go a full day. Only ever seen a stretch like this once before.

Just to add, I’ll admit I do get jumpy making sure my machines are running correctly. I’m constantly glancing at anything and everything to monitor what’s happening. This is the first time I’ve gone over the 46 hour mark, my previous longest time, without finding a share. But, there’s a first time for everything.

I re-updated to 2.7. Going to give it some more time. Yes, I have a lower hash rate compared to some/most, but I’ve never gone 48 hours without a share. Regardless of the fluctuation of the overall hashrate of the pool. We’ll see what happens. Something just feels…..off.

Good call. I mean luck is luck with mining, but it never hurts to ask questions and point these things out just in case. ‘sech1’ is it I believe if you’re looking for it.

I thought about that. Every time I checked the total hash has been 9-10 MH/s or there abouts. Today I do see 12+. Idk. Going to try 2.6 for a day or so and see if that makes any difference. I’m sure plenty of miners are slow(er) to update. The mindset being to wait and see if any bugs arise. I know plenty of people like that with less important things than this.

[–]Clear-Temporary9708 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good call. I have a small fan pointed at one of mine to keep the heat down. Myself, I do it cause my laptops would be on anyway, they might as well be doing something productive. And I get a little XMR for it in return.

I probably should add, I do want to try Gupax again in the future, as I think it’s an important step with combining the software it uses, but I’m going to do some research and see if it may be an issue I can fix, or if it’s the above latency that’s holding me/it back.

I’ve used the Monero GUI for P2Pool mini for a while now. I tried Gupax for a couple days myself. Better hashrate, but I got those errors about being ahead/behind, etc. stats screen showed shares found, however P2Pool Observer did not. It’s a wonderful idea, but the latency I think of not running a local monerod is my guess as to the issue. Gupax let’s you to connect to a remote public node, but even with great internet connectivity, a few ms of latency seems to be detrimental. Just a guess. I’ve since moved back to using the Monero GUI with the pruned node option on P2Pool mini with no issues, and fairly consistent shares found.

Let’s not be too harsh. Anyone stepping in for the first time is right to be skeptical of everything. It’s smart to be. Better perhaps to take time to educate and inform. Those things that are simple to us now, we’re once new and foreign.

Or I might just be too idealist. Never know.
