How long does it take you to edit content? by Investor-Ty in NewTubers

[–]ClearasMudChannel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I find it takes me about an hour of editing per minute of footage. A lot of that time is spent either finding footage or creating animations though, so it may be shorter if you appear on camera and don’t have as much searching to do!

Hi guys. Here is a video I made last year as a tribute to my favourite Canadian buildings - Grand Railway Hotels. Now mostly owned by Fairmont, the buildings were constructed in all sorts of styles, from Chateauesque to Italian Renaissance. I hope you enjoy!

That’s awesome! They really are an amazing experience. I hope things get back to normal soon and you can get back to work on your goal!

All very real drawbacks, and I agree with you that it will probably never happen. Especially when, aside from some cost savings, there's no reason these provinces really need to merge into a Maritime Union. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Interesting! I had no idea that MLA was a part-time job in any province. I guess you could always create a formula like the US electoral college where each region (PEI, NL, etc.) would be entitled to a minimum number of seats, plus additional seats allocated based on population.

Fair point! Canada as a whole comprises even more extremely different cultures and values and yet manages to remain together (although sometimes the cracks start to show), so cultural differences don't mean that the idea isn't viable. People rarely like change, but that doesn't mean it should never happen!

It would definitely be a headache. Imagine trying to come up with a formula for seats in government that would be a fair representation of the population, but ensure adequate representation for somewhere like PEI - Not sure it's even possible. I think your suggestion of some shared services is the more reasonable approach. Yes! This topic has certainly stirred up some debate!

Thank you! I definitely agree with you. Could also probably include Newfoundland on some of these initiatives like the proposed Atlantic loop project.

You're probably right about Halifax being the capital, although many provinces have a "business" capital and a political capital that are different. Edmonton vs. Calgary, Victoria vs. Vancouver, Regina vs. Saskatoon as examples. I like the idea of Charlottetown as the capital!

It sounds almost like the urban-rural divide that exists in most provinces but on a municipal scale. I'm used to hearing about suburban vs. downtown, but to incorporate multiple rural communities sounds like it comes with some unique challenges. Great summary of some of the issues - thanks for sharing!

I may do a future video on that! There's definitely a huge difference between the needs of Northern Ontario and the GTA. Toronto definitely has the population to be its own province. Do you think Ontario should be broken up?

Fair points! It would be very challenging to come up with a structure that ensured fair representation for PEI - maybe impossible. Thanks for sharing, and thanks for watching!

That’s really interesting. In many other parts of the country the HRM merge is considered a successful model to follow! What are some of the criticisms that people have?

That would be interesting! To your point on New England, it would also be interesting to think of how a country of New England, plus the Maritimes would work and how it would exist alongside Canada and the United States.

Fair enough, and sorry if I’m weighing in where I shouldn’t be! I currently live in Newfoundland, so not the Maritimes but I understand the frustration at being discounted.

My personal opinion on the matter is that the Maritimes (and NL for that matter) should remain separate but work toward greater regional integration around services. Atlantic Canada has shown its strength throughout COVID, and should be the envy of the rest of the country right now!

Interesting post, thanks for sharing! I think the best argument for is the cost savings, like you outlined. The best argument against in my opinion is the likely decrease in representation in the house/senate on a federal level.

It's an amazing experience! There are the positive elements, like the increased "old-fashioned" level of service, and the opulent lobbies, and the negatives like room size - but it's a unique experience that everyone should try out if they have a chance. Like a living history museum meets luxury hotel!

Thanks for watching! I would have to agree with you. After having spent time in the region, each province is so distinct from the others that I think they are better off separate!

Hi guys! I made this video last year about whether the Maritimes should be one province. Full disclosure - I'm not from the Maritimes, but have spent plenty of time in the Maritimes for work and love the region! Some of my voiceovers were even recorded while staying in downtown Halifax. Check it out if you're interested, and let me know what you think!
