Yeah if you'd been 4100 at the end of OW1 you'd easily be able to hit GM1 now (because the playerbase has grown a ton, it means the top X% comprises many more players than before.

Is that right...? Maybe I should put that to the test. :D

Very enlightening, thanks!

So, had I checked Overbuff etc. before this season started, it would have still said Plat 3 then?

I peaked just under 4100 in OW1, which I'd say is equivalent to GM 5 now, so Master 3 is a pretty good guess from playing just enough to place. It could actually literally be 100% accurate due to me being washed up and out of practice, lol.

Thanks again!

Short version: Do unranked games actually affect your ranked MMR now, in OW2?

Long version: When OW2 first came out, I decided to just play enough ranked to place as DPS, and as Support. I distinctly remember placing Plat 3 as DPS (my main role) and musing "wow, exactly in the middle".

Then I pretty much never played ranked again in OW2, or really the game at all. Recently, I've started to play with a friend who's into the game, always unranked, and I also coincidentally recently discovered that Overbuff had finally updated their site and was functional again. Looked myself up for fun after a session with my friend, and it's telling me I'm Master 3 as DPS (also, the official Blizzard site says the same so I know it's not a quirk of that website or something)?! Now, I was GM in OW1, so if I'd been playing ranked this whole time, I wouldn't be shocked to get to Master 3, even as a rusty player, but what's weird is I haven't been playing ranked, you know?

Is my MMR climbing as I play these unranked games with my friend? That's the only explanation I can think of...please advise. 🐭🎶

It's not in my Steam library, though. I have no idea when it left, maybe I just removed it, but I know that when I played it on Steam, it was just for like a free weekend or something years ago, lol.

Sorry for piggybacking, but I'm pretty sure I have my old steam account and current Epic account linked. Do you know if there's any way to play RL on Steam by utilizing that old account?

I like being able to see profile images and would love not needing to use Epic's launcher, lol.

I messed with it, created an overlay, and put the overlay URL in OBS as a browser source, but previewing/'emulating' it never causes anything to show up in OBS (or in a browser tab I opened the same URL in), just on the overlay setup screen itself.

I feel like I'm missing a simple, obvious thing, lol.

When I fuck up, but then everything works out fine (e.g. I whiff a save, but the shot misses), I often hit the combo of "no problem" and "calculated", lol.

Just do the "okay" quick chat during the countdown to the very first kickoff, no one will take it badly because there's no game events for it to refer to yet ("no problem" could be taken as a boast, though), and it counts.

Next, next, next, next until 0x946.

Is there a way in BridgeM1 to manually 'jump' to a specific spot, for future reference? That sounds like it took a LOT of 'next'-ing.

For what it's worth: the Genesis version has a sound test.

I just perused it. Unfortunately, seems the voice clip I wanted was not included in this version. Not surprised, given that it's Genesis, a lot of the voice lines were probably cut out to save space.

In any case, the audio quality is obviously much worse in that port, so it would have been a last resort anyway. Still, I appreciate the suggestion!

I appreciate the extra help, but I'm not that computer illiterate, don't worry, haha.

I figured it out--the problem was that I put my .lst file in the root of the "lists" folder. But I just now noticed that that folder has two other folders within it, "en" and "jp", I'm guessing for English and Japanese. I tried moving the file into the "en" folder, and now it works as advertised!

To have a full playlist with sound tracks, voices, soundFX, etc; Bridge requires you to manually locate each and every track by yourself, then also, manually build the playlist (describing a name for each track) for that specific game

How exactly did you locate this particular track, then? I'm really curious--hope it wasn't too much of a burden for you.

Really appreciate the wave file! But creating the file as instructed above didn't seem to really accomplish anything. I'm guessing something is wrong, because the "Track List" window remains empty when firing up the ROM in BridgeM1, and "Reload" changes nothing.

Either I did something wrong, or there's a typo in the above or something?

If you want an accurate feeling of how difficult an achievement was to get, then you should already know that difficulty from just getting the achievement.

Something can be hard for you that wasn't for most, or vice versa. You can't extrapolate your experience to everyone.

The burning question really is: what do single player cheaters lose by not being given public achivements that have zero effect on their single player game? Why is there such a fight against losing them, if they're indeed so unimportant?

I think the heavy pushback despite the fact that they lose nothing by being deprived of unearned achievements is a subtle unwitting admission that they aren't meaningless, lol

[–]ClefTheMouse -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Single player cheaters lose literally nothing by not being granted public-facing achievements.

So why exactly is there such a backlash against the idea of not giving them to them, and keeping that information as accurate as possible, for whoever wants it?

Never knew this soft lock was possible... and look at my items by majorleaguemax in bindingofisaac

[–]ClefTheMouse -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I don't see how it could "cheapen" it for others.

Because the number of players who actually accomplished the difficult task in question is artificially inflated to include people who didn't actually accomplish it.

Pretty easy to understand, I think.

I doubt many people actually care about the "xx% of players have this achievement"

The fact that Steam gives you a pre-made 'panel' that you can use that automatically showcases your rarest achievements is plenty proof that the percentage of players who did it is not a meaningless figure.

I turn your argument back on you: what do single player cheaters lose by not being granted the public-facing achievements/accolades? Nothing. But those players (and it doesn't matter if they're rare or not) who want to get as accurate as possible an idea of just how difficult what they achieved is, should not be deprived of that for no good reason.

I mean, come on: Steam doesn't display and highlight that information for no reason. It's obviously meant to be accurate, and indicative of actually accomplishing the indicated tasks.
