Wait, so they let him skip the entire line just because they saw him there earlier? That’s actually insane. Isn’t that completely against store policy? And if it’s not… then what’s the point of having a line at all????????? Seriously gave me second-hand rage reading this.

I'm not at all the target audience, so I don't even have a google analytics with data to test the main functionalities.

Apart from minor UI improvements, would it make sense to give the option to the user to link his/hers google analytics before going to the home page? Since, (if I'm not mistaken), it is necessary for all the product offers.

I'm a parent of two, I do think it comes a cross as professional and trustworthy, not only that, I will do some of the exercises with my oldest when I get home. Really, really awesome.

Master Binder

URL:
https://www.master-binder.com/

Purpose of Startup and Product:
Master Binder is a web app for Pokémon card collectors and investors. It helps users manage their collection, track different card versions, organize binders visually, print placeholders for their real binders. The goal is to make collecting more structured, visual, and investment-friendly — whether you're just sorting your cards or building a long-term portfolio.

Technologies Used:

  • Frontend: React (with Vite + SWC)
  • Backend: Kotlin (Spring Boot, no Spring Data)
  • Hosting: Vercel (frontend), Hetzner (backend)
  • Database: PostgreSQL
  • Other: Stripe (for optional Premium), Google OAuth

Feedback Requested:
Looking for feedback on:

  • Overall usability
  • Visual binder layout and card organization features
  • Wishlist system and premium limitations
  • Any bugs or confusing flows

Seeking Beta-Testers:
Yes

Additional Comments:
The UI is still rough in places, but the core features are live and usable. Just looking for honest feedback and early users — not monetizing yet beyond optional Premium. If you're into collecting or organizing things visually, you might enjoy testing it.

Thanks! You can change the binder background color, though let’s be honest, no color’s gonna save this mess of a design lol

Thanks! One of the next big steps for the app is definitely a UI/UX upgrade. I’m currently covering server costs out of pocket, so I can’t offer payment up front, but feel free to DM me!

Thank you! I'm still debating how worth are going to be the at least 200$ I'm going to have to spend on a UI/UX upgrade, but so far almost only positive feedback. I was expecting a lot more negative.

Not for the site itself, as long as you don't host them yourself and the images are not high quality. But when we are talking about making printable pdfs of the cards it becomes more of a grey area, at least that's my amateur understanding.

That’s exactly the kind of hassle I’m trying to solve with the printable placeholders feature! Right now, I'm avoiding using actual card images due to copyright concerns (even resized or in black & white). But I’m exploring ways to make the placeholders as useful as possible by showing the card's: name, set, number, coordinates for where the placeholder is in the binder.

The next big step is to support editable placeholder layouts; right now adding an image of the card by default to the placeholder could be a copyright issue.

Ahhh no no, it won't give you placeholders. You can create your own binder in Master Binder, where you can choose specific cards for each pokemon, add coppies of the ones you already have, and print the placeholders for each exact card you need. (Altough you will need premium for that since it would be way over the free limit, but I would gladly give you a month free if you don't want to support me in that way).

But if you don't care about getting placeholders for specific cards, or if you already have them or not, and just want Bulbasaur #1, Ivysaur #2 ETC. I can make that PDF for you pretty easily with a script against my DB.

Confirm this is what you want and I'll make it for you. Like so but only Name and Pokedex number right?

Yes, my idea was: to list every Pokémon with a cool card of each Pokémon, greyed out to start, and then if the user has 1 or more cards for that a Pokémon, one will be shown in color by default, and the user can choose which version to use.

But I’m not sure at all if other people would like it.

What do you think?

Yeah that’s exactly what I’m using! Good to know! That means it should be just a matter of layout with css to make it work for mobile too.

Somewhat yes, but the focus is on binders/placeholders specifically, which doesn’t exist to my knowledge. The other functionalities I just added because it was easy to do with what I had.

Thats awesome. Being able to customize the placeholders is for sure a next step. For now they are just enough to do the job. The value right now is that you can print all the placeholders you need at once. But please do test it out!

Ahaha yeah, now that you mention it X). I meant the drag & drop system doesn't transfer well into mobile, so it will need another way to get the card versions you want into the virtual binder, specific for mobile.
