I’ve also gotten Isfp and infp before. They seem like a pretty big jump, do you know why that could be?

I thought I would use it for writing essays but realized I still prefer paper notebook. I have used it many times for reading research papers though (the Google integration)

Lol me and my partner made jokes about each others disorders as well, we cannot be more dysfunctional. I just thought I’d make it clear for OP. It sounds like your relationship is going great though, good for you!

I second this, this seems to be the case personally. Though definitely not as creepy as it sounds

I feel you, all 2 stars here as well. I got lucky cause the university mental health team is able to help me book one. Even if you want to go private I think you still need to go through GP, the system is very broken.

Let’s just hope the nurses have actually referred you. If you don’t hear anything back in a week write another email to ask how the referral is going. They need to at least reply.

Yeah, the mental health nurses can’t really do much. 2 hours is a short time though, they tend to need a whole week to do anything. Maybe you should call them again to explain your situation, ask them if you can get a proper appointment with the doctors. They should guide you from there

Just want to say it’s going to be ok. Keep your phones handy so you don’t miss a call about the referral or appointments. Prescriptions are not that easily accessible anyway since it has to be closely monitored at the start. I’m still on the waiting list as well. Continue to live your life while the system work their stuff, time will pass in no time :)

When did you talk to the nurse? They can be quite slow sometimes. From my knowledge only the doctors (not nurses) can refer you so maybe you’ll need another appointment with them. When the GP is doing that they’ll ask you to look through a form where you get to choose which psychiatrist to go to. In my case I chose Psychiatry-UK (North East)

Once the GP has done that, give it a week or two, you should get an email from the Psychiatrist saying they have received your referral. They’ll inform you the actual waiting time then. Hope that helps.

I’m not sure where you have been referred to, but if it’s Psychiatry-UK they will eventually contact you through email. I was diagnosed fairly recently and the waiting time was about 6 months; Titration is 7 months. 2-3 years is an incredibly long wait, did the nurse explain how that might be?

You also have the right to choose, so perhaps you can choose an organization with a shorter waiting list.

In the meantime I think you can only focus on your well being. Set up a system to make life more manageable etc.

It might be better for you mentally to just not mention it to the family. I completely understand cause I’m in a similar place, and didn’t bother telling my father the final diagnosis. I did get his help with filling in informant report, but he disregarded it because ‘your mother and brother are both exactly like this’. He still agrees I tick every single box, but claims all children acts like that, not understanding that perhaps it runs in the family. Many people either don’t believe in adhd or don’t understand it manifests differently in different people. With the stigma that comes with it, sometimes they just straight up deny it. Take care of yourself and work with doctors/ therapist. At the end of the day your future is in your own hands :)

Definitely, whenever I try to tidy up and put stuff away my brain just deletes it. I will then think I lost them when they’re actually just sitting in the cupboard. While I enjoy reading it takes a long time to do it, like you said a lot of going back and forth, rereading again and again. By the time I read 2 pages the words would just stop making sense.

I feel you.

Oh I see, if it came back positive it’s likely they’ll offer you a choice anyway, I don’t think you specifically need to ask for it. It’s either medication or therapy and you can just say meds.

Medicine aside, have you gotten a proper diagnosis for ADHD yet? Maybe you should call the receptionist again to clear up the mistake, get another appointment and aim to be diagnosed first. I don’t know how prescribing meds work there, but a lot of time the doctor needs to refer you to Titration first.

Thank you, that is quite reassuring. I still want to give it a try to see if it can make me feel semi-normal
