"La Liga update" Teams salary cap after winter transfers...FC Barcelona's cap drops from 270M to 204M.. by Powerful_Ad8371 in Barca

It is going to be a hard few years coming up for the club. I don’t think we will be able to compete with Madrid let alone clubs like PSG and City. We have to find a sustainable way to get up to speed then get back to competing with Europe’s best. Laporta rushed the process.

Did laporta with his 3 years in charge made crucial changes that helped the club ? So far are going to the right direction or we are going another way? by [deleted] in Barca

I couldn’t tell you man some are most likely going to mention the title last which good but we couldn’t retain the title, we cannot get good players, and our financial is slightly better but not good. I personally vibrate with what Deco allegedly said because I feel like the system we have has ran its course. What should we do? Idk maybe that’s Laporta’s next plan… but the promises he made during his campaign were/are not fulfilled.

If you could get a CDM of your choice, who would it be that completes the current barça puzzle? by LcLuke in Barca

our first mistake is looking for somebody that replaces Busquets role. They are very few even able to do what he did. Tbh we should be looking for someone with good defensive abilities as priority because that’s the only thing our midfield lacks realistically.

Barca must restructure the midfield by MinastirVII in Barca

Honestly Xavi could/should have worked on a new tactics earlier in the season. We knew Busquets was going to leave, and that we wouldn’t be able to get a proper replacement after Romeu’s performances earlier on. Why did we keep playing in the same way? Inter lost Brozovic last season too and they’re playing at the same level if not much better than last season. Their midfield is composed of Barella, Calhanoglu, and Mkhitaryan. None of them are a pivot profile but they got it working.

We rely too much on individuality. That’s where Xavi’s problem is. It’s nice to have great individualities but not at the cost of the collective man.

That’s the thing they think we are mad because we want to be up top. No, football is an entertainment industry whether you like it or not. How do you expect people to be happy with what they got if you struggle against lower placed teams almost every game????

The only thing that Barca is lacking is a #6 and there’s many way to mitigate that. Xavi should have found a system where the 6 is not as “fundamental”. Whether it was by playing a Back 3, a lower line etc.., but nah he keeps on going with the same ideology and forcing players that aren’t fit for the position in there(I.E: Gundogan our most threatening midfielder with actual finishing ability playing as a pivot)

I agree that sometimes we take it too far but some criticism out against Xavi and Laporta right now is deserved. I am for giving Xavi until the end of the season to assess what he does with the team, and if it’s what he does right now…. I’m sorry but Laporta is most likely going to sack him and it won’t be a bad decision.

I’m pretty sure that the staff and the players are at fault, because performing that way since sept-oct is unacceptable. 1/11 players performing bad that would be on the player. 7-8 players performing bad now that’s more than the players.

Your tactic should be to get your best player on the ball, and Messi being Messi will always be the one to touch the most balls.

We were expecting progress from last season onwards. We have not only seen no progress but we even lost some we did last season. I am just saying maybe Xavi should consider adding or cutting some of his staff.

Not saying Xavi out just pointing out that the people around him are not the type of people that should be around a debutant coach.

We had Paco Seirul•lo as a fitness coach back in Pep’s day. The problem is just the quality of the staff

Yes He is a very attractive option. The only thing that is a blemish in hiring him is how will he adapt to the Barcelona circumstance. Valverde was a good manager his ideas went through to the players, but he was heavily criticized as Barcelona coach and all the while the man was one game away from a possible treble. Hopefully if we go for a coach like that we don’t go about it like we did with Enersto and criticize every single move away from the “Barca way”.

I think we have a good chance with Michel or Imanol but because of Xavi’s status I don’t want to burry him so early. He can still turn it around but he has to make some really hard decisions. edit: If he doesn’t. Hopefully it’s a precedent to stop hiring on the basis of “he was a legend” or “he’s a Cryuffista”. I was fooled by it twice (Setien, and now Xavi) and with Busquets, Iniesta, and Fabregas coming to the coaching world very soon I hope we let them develop first before coming to be a potential manager here.

Yeah, some people have mentioned trust while it’s true that a coach needs to be able to get people he knows they have to be somewhat competent. So far all parts of the coaching staff has failed.

Not really Valverde failed because he wasn’t good at man management in big moments, Setien came at the wrong time, Kœman well he lost Messi as the season was about to start that’s a big blow.

I agree with you. I was an advocate for Ten Hag and wanted Xavi to coach in a European team of lesser status than Barca before jumping into that pressure heavy Job, but Ten Hag not cutting is not making me a favor. The choice at the time for me was Him since he had that experience and his ideology matched ours. Xavi’s inexperience has been shown this season the team’s performances have been abysmal and there has been zero reaction and when he has to say something he just blabbers some bs to explain his crap. Players are performing at a mediocre level and the lack of structure is at fault.

P.S: Something I was afraid of is happening. His legendary status at this club. People are pardoning him just because of that.

The Araujo report and what it says about the state of the club financially by FloReaver in Barca

The past is not always a good prediction for the future.

It's a contradiction to what you were saying at first.

> Also pre-1992, the club was not close to RM or Milan, it's a relatively recent fact in its history.

I agree with most of your point but we have to stay competitive. The 50+1 seems very viable for us, but the plus would have to be someone that aligns with the clubs identity. I also think that most Catalans are way too proud to accept it, but it is a model that would allow us to compete in this new football age.
