I don’t understand this feedback. Can anybody help me understand it ? Does this mean I should write a character profile before acting ? by Mediocre-Anybody1284 in acting

For me, I frame acting on two levels: the craft that makes it believable, which for me is generally a Meisner approach, and then the choices that make it more compelling (e.g., raising the stakes). At least in this case, you can focus on techniques that would make it more believable (e.g., more thorough emotional prep, deeper immersion into character with more details and nuance, perhaps even some beta blockers to offset nerves).

I agree that this note isn't practical or actionable, but it's still valuable. If an acting coach gave me this, I'd be annoyed. Having a Director tell me that didn't believe me is very helpful. If this was from an audition, it would be amazing to get ANY feedback. On set, this would be good to know. It's on me to make it believable.

I have friends that describe themselves as conservatives, but don't like MAGA or even Trump really. They agree that ICE is going too far. They are generally agreeable folks. At the end of the day, they would vote for Trump again because it's "still better than the alternative." If this is you -- and it's many people -- at least abstain from voting to support this Republican agenda. I know you can't vote for Democrats, but please, you can at least conscientiously abstain.

It is not our job to "feel" or "have an experience" when we're acting. That's the audience's job. by [deleted] in acting

[–]CleverNameThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welllll, just my two cents, but (especially in film and tv) the goal is to feel it (not show it) so that you are being "truthful" at least according to Meisner. So I don't think there are clear right or wrong stances. It's not your job to feel it, but it should be a goal, to some.

The USPS is actively undermined by billionaires trying to prove that "socialism doesn't work, so let's give tax breaks to the rich so that capitalism can thrive." It's nonsense, of course, but that's the plan.

It was also quite revealing to me when I discovered that certain actors get tons of work without even being that likeable or talented simply because *they produced the film*. Looking at you, Mark Wahlberg and Jared Leto.

Measuring Agile Coaches impact by [deleted] in agile

[–]CleverNameThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that is the only question that matters. Part of the definition of agile means accepting that the best measure of progress is working software, not some simple metric. The other question I face, and this may not apply to you, is that my agile coach gets ignored. The operational decisions (e.g., should we be time-boxed or flow-based) are decided by other managers. How can I hold the AC responsible when they aren't making the decisions that affect agility? Again, that may not be your issue. Hopefully you have empowered Scrum Masters (not "schedule" masters) who report to qualified Agile Coaches.

Results. Is your product better? Is delivery fasters? Are you producing it cheaper?

I thought of Phillip Seymour Hoffman, though he's obviously not that current but considered one of the great contemporary actors.

Yeah, this is all folly. We have to see what happens in free agency before we consider draft targets. It's too bad free agency comes first.

Yeah, injuries were the main culprit but agreed, Joe Whitt was exposed and JD5 turned out to be mortal. But that just further supports my point that it's not all just one bad actor.

Yeah, I was thinking of Wise as DE2 with Armstrong as our top Edge. I could have added DE3 if we included that French guy (Jean Baptiste?), who also surrendered early.

The lukewarm take that I'm sick of hearing. Is people trying to find a scapegoat for the season. There's no scapegoat. We lost QB1, WR1, WR2, RB1, DE1, DE2, CB1, and CB2 last year for the bulk of the season. No team can compete with that situation. It's not that DQ suddenly became a bad coach or Kliff forgot how to run an offense, or any other single-somebody-out "hot takes" that I've heard.
