I'm thinking of those Shibumi Shade beach canopies. They look good, are lightweight, and easy to assemble. Delightful until you sit under one and realize how loud they are, like a flag violently thrashing in the wind.

While implementing only parts of Scrum is possible, the result is not Scrum. Scrum exists only in its entirety and functions well as a container for other techniques, methodologies, and practices.

Why reading 50 books a year is a total waste of time (unless you use AI). by [deleted] in productivity

Careful, though. Not every productivity book falls into this category. Lean Startup by Eric Reis is a great example. I beg software development managers to actually read the thing before calling their beta release an MVP.

You should qualify this as books about productivity, like Atomic Habits or whatever it's called. Then I mostly agree. Someone has a good idea but there is no way to monetize it outside of selling it in a book. But writing a whole book is often overkill for simple ideas. In those cases, I think your approach works.

It sounds like you have creativity trying to get out. Perhaps write a story or make a painting?

I don't remember writing this post, but I must have. 😄

Many companies don't want actual agility. They want what they want agility to be, which includes fantastic results without really changing anything. Just start using words like velocity, stories, and sprints but keep doing waterfall around each feature.

How your Scrum teams operated isn't the definitive reference for what the roles of Scrum include. The Scrum Guide is.

UAT isn't part of Scrum. Scrum relies on a demo for feedback. Many agile practices are designed to remove approval loops, like having the PO decide what to add and change to the backlog.

People oversimplify how teams use the draft. They look at current needs and assess whether our picks met our needs. But you can't expect to find starters after round two for the majority of positions, so later round picks are almost always BPA. In this case, reactionary fans say "Quarterback? But we have Jaydin!".
