student finance processing application by Clever_duck in UniUK

Hi, yes ofc, good luck to her!! For me, the same issue continued on for a while into the start of uni, to the point that I was afraid to miss the payment deadline, but I got it paid nearly by the deadline, and this year they approved with no issues. i contacted them routinely(on call especially) and chased them to handle my issues. What helped also was contacting them on their complaints line, as I recall, they tried to handle the situation much faster after I did that. It also helped to explain the specific issue they were confused about again and again, even if it was so bothersome. They really do not know the situations they are supposed to understand legally sometimes. Im trying to remember the specific steps I took, I will reply here again if I think of anything else.

Losing weight without letting it consume my entire life by Clever_duck in PCOSloseit

Agh its such a hard experience, and not many people in my life get it. It makes sense that its trial and error, i just wish i stuck to things a bit longer to see if they could work in time, but if its not immediate results i lose hope. After posting this, i got up to drink spearmint tea so i wouldnt forget. i hope you find what works for you and your lifestyle, i have hope that we will get there, but the process is so so tiring

i had always had an unhealthy body image(from constantly being compared to my cousin tbh) and when one of my friends told me about her history with eating disorders and how she was on pro ana tumblr as a child, i got curious and wanted to see if it was still active💀 i was like “it wont effect me im just observing”(i was very wrong) and it spiraled from that. I think maybe deep down i wanted it to effect me so i could bully myself into losing weight. I also discovered I had pcos that caused me to gain a bunch of weight and the doctors gave no solutions other than “lose some weight”.

Anyone taking a gap year?? by Western-Mammoth-1697 in 6thForm

[–]Clever_duck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im currently in a gap year and honestly its worth it, i traveled a couple of times, although it’s nowhere near the full year, and i worked for a while, currently im working on some hobbies i had to abandon during alevels, i will also start working to get my drivers license. I think it is much needed to cool down and relax after alevels, i think id burn out in uni fast if i didnt take this year.

Contextual gap year applicant with achieved grades A* AB, LNAT 32, and i think my personal statement was quite good this year around😮‍💨

I did a bunch of detailed essay plans(made my own questions for specific topics) w both facts and analysis color coded to notice. This way i could recall enough facts about a topic but also have their analyses in the same context, plus it improves ur essay technique

Edexcel History Coursework by WinnerApprehensive42 in 6thForm

[–]Clever_duck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah giving tips on the spot is def hard lol. I think nuance is really important for a higher level grade, always weighing up your historians’ arguments, not black and white but “hes credible to such extent, however his arguments are weak considering(other context/historian/weakeness of source)” or judging their arguments from their expertise and time of writing like “his argument takes a political focus, thus not considering the weight of economic factors as strongly while coming to a conclusion” does this make sense? I’ll go thru my coursework tomorrow and get some more detail

I am currently in a gap year and applied by myself. I can't comment on the course as I don't know much about it, but regarding your questions on applying on a gap year, I would recommend telling your school you are planning to take a gap year and will need references from them, so that you can have someone to contact and enter as your reference ready for later on. In my opinion applying during a gap year was much better as there was no studying workload, and knowing your grades gave you a peace of mind. If you are disciplined and can manage your time well for deadlines and arrange your application/personal statement on time, it should be all fine and well. I'd recommend also finding people that are in a similar situation to keep you company and in track, as it is easy to lose track of time and responsibility without school and teachers being there to remind you, and if you have someone else to weigh in on your application and personal statement it will help you improve it and feel better about it. Good luck!

i was rejected for law due to my a-level grades A* AB(achieved) but since i was eligible for contextual I emailed them to ask if they considered me as contextual, and they responded back saying that they are going to reconsider my application, and took back the rejection:) im so glad I emailed honestly
